ALISHA

It was one of the few days when the relation of siblings was celebrated. Called Bhaubeej, it was one of the four days in Diwali that sisters and brothers celebrated and rejoiced in the bond they had.

We had celebrated with the three days of Diwali, and it was safe to say that we celebrated with all our might. Decoration, dresses, parties, ceremonies, people, and just pure joy everywhere. Crackers were included, but didn’t end up well for me. I ended up coughing and stumbling inside the house, and Sohail followed me. But then I insisted for everyone else to continue and burst crackers, they had every right to have fun. And I never liked bursting crackers in the first place.

We had a small ritual, or pooja, in our old home. And today on this holy occasion, we were gonna move into our new house. All our life we had been cramped into one small tiny house. Now, we had a luxurious two storey mansion, with another building behind it we liked to call the “club.” It had everything from lavish pools, to gardens, to library, to gym, to living rooms and bedrooms, to huge walk in closets, to a gaming room and a theatre room. This was what I called an “all-in-one” home. Perfect, huge, with the best view possible of the city, and it felt just so right.

“Oh, I have to admit I’m gonna miss this place.” I ran a hand through a couch and Sohail ruffled my hair. This house was where all the memories were off. The guys first adopting me, their first movie deals, my first medal, Salman’s Oscar, Arbaaz’s wedding, Arhaan’s birth…every corner of this house told a story so close to our hearts. We got out of the house, since we were off schedule thanks to our overwhelming nostalgia.

“My Palsion.” I stared at the huge mansion with all its light on in full glory. I called it Palsion as a fusion of two words- Palace and Mansion. All our cars got into the driveway easily, the paparazzi blocked out comfortably. This house had the best security one could install, with almost every room accessed through smart cards and eye recognition. The paparazzi could never cross the compound walls, never click photos of ours in our house.

“I love it.” I sighed, slamming the door shut. Just staring at it from outside, it felt magnificent. The house had a golden glow due to the reflecting lights and setting sun, and it’s surroundings felt warm. The lawns were lush with green, fresh grass with trees and flowers lining the driveway. It circled back to the other building where we had our garage. And yeah, the basement was reserved for the vanity vans and range rovers the guys owned.

“Let’s get inside!” Salman pushed us all inside, and I sighed in relief to see it was contemporary. I had loved what the designer had explained in theory, but in practical life it felt even better! We had all agreed on one thing- the main living room was gonna be minimalistic. So here we were, in the relaxing and comforting white, with couches and seats arranged all over. A huge sliding door separated the house from the back lawn and the view of the sea. Huge chandeliers were hanging down from the ceiling, and I gawked upwards at the source of light.

It was nothing but perfect.

Deeper into the floor there was a dining room connected to the bar and the kitchen on both sides. The kitchen was brighter with red and black glossy finish, whereas the bar was darker and more elegant. I didn’t like the idea of having a bar in the house, but if I ever turned into an alcoholic person, I could blame this thing. Think positive!

“Please tell me they’ve stocked the fridge. Oh, they have.” I opened it to find everything we all like arranged neatly inside. Getting out a fruit bowl I began munching on the apples first.

“Now we all don’t feel crumpled in.” Sohail smirked, looking at Arbaaz and Malaika sitting outside with Arhaan playing around in the new house. They had bought another space for themselves, but had rooms here. Even I had a room for myself in their pad. So they were gonna stay there, and me, Salman and Sohail would have this huge house to us. They’d come over whenever possible, but it still won’t be the same. Though I was a tad bit upset, I couldn’t expect everyone to live together forever.
