ALISHA

Bloody Dimitri.

I mentally cursed at him repeatedly as he made me hit the ropes after pathetic conditioning that almost got me unconscious. He said it was only conditioning for the day, and by conditioning he meant torturing all three of us elites to death and more. Was he pissed because the USA team won silver or because Kay was two minutes late today, I didn’t know. But one thing was for sure- he was determined to make us suffer, and make us suffer slowly.

“Faster!” he yelled as we made our way up. Gah, I wanted to jump out the window and escape. Instead my body pushed harder.

Exhausted- it was understating our condition. We had so much abs conditioning that it literally hurt while giggling or laughing, which we didn’t have the energy to do either. Before we collapsed on the mats, Dimitri announced

“That’s it for today. And trust me, you wanna get some painkillers tomorrow.”

Grumbling, I struggled to even put my shorts back on. Not talking at all, we all went out the gym, as the assistant coach flipped the lights off.

“Bye.” We chorused together, but nobody found it amusing. Both of them went with their parents, but Tyson was nowhere to be seen. After waiting for five minutes, I texted Tyson who was supposed to pick me up today.

Where are you? –Alisha

Major accident ahead, stuck in traffic. Can you please wait inside the gym? – Tyson

Ok- Alisha

I turned back to see a lock on the door. Damn it, when did Dimitri leave? He had ninja powers to sneak in and out without anyone noticing.

Sighing, I sat down near the stairs and put my headphones on. Feeling the need to test, I got my meter out and fumbled around till I got the results.

“Fuck it.” I mumbled, punching in details into the pod for discharging more drugs into my defected lungs. Anyone have an extra pair of lungs lying around? Can I borrow them if you don’t mind? Thanks.

“What brings you here, the gym’s closed in the afternoon due to maintenance. Nobody told you?” I asked as a man came up to the gym. He was probably a parent or something, or whatever. I was a tad bit rude to him, but then the low was hitting me bad now.

“Is it, we didn’t know. I wanted to check this gym out for my daughter.” he extended his arm for me, and I shook it shakily,

“Nice to meet you.” I tried to be formal and nice to the person. He might be the next gym dad, who ruled around and what not. His daughter just might be the nest Nastia Liukin.

“The pleasure is all mine.” He cocked his head to the right.

“You should probably go back, it’s not gonna open soon.” I pointed my chin towards the locked doors and he seemed least bothered now. Weird.

“You train here?” he pointed towards the doors too, but kept his gaze at me. And what was weird was that he wasn’t staring at my chest, thankfully. Just towards my face, like he was studying a biology specimen closely.s

“Yeah I do. Oh God, where are my manners? I’m Alisha Khan.” I smiled, introducing myself to the man.

“Oh, you are the Alisha the world’s talking about.” He grinned and I chuckled half heartedly. Now I was the Alisha who survived a terror attack, also co-incidentally a celebrity sister. Everybody had forgotten about the gymnast Alisha, the friend Alisha or even a person Alisha.
