ALISHA

I had never felt this anxious to enter my gym before. The sky gym had been my second home, and I had always loved to spend time there. Even when we lost to a team, I had never felt so nervous. Even when I turned up late, or was back after a break or anything ever.

Gathering every ounce of courage I had, I walked towards the door and clenched the cold handle in my hands. Ok, I could do it. Nothing had changed at all. It was still my gym, they were still my friends.

Damn it, I couldn’t do it.

“Help?” asked a hushed voice from behind me and I jumped.

“Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you.” The voice said again and I turned around.

He was definitely the most beautiful creature I had ever set my eyes on. I stared into his green eyes, and looked away ashamed.

“Uh yeah, you are the Mumbai attack survivor girl, right?” he asked and I rolled my eyes. All the charm and magic he had faded in a split second.

“Yeah, but I have a name you know?”

“Alisha was it?”

“You got it right. Somebody watches a lot of gossip shows, huh?” I folded my arms and cocked my head to the right.

“Ha, no. Your gossip is all around the place. Not only at your gym, but also at our place.” He pointed at the swim club a few yards away. I knew that it was one of the most reputed in the country, and was the wild card entry to Olympics. And that also explained his height. Damn, he was no less than 5’10, probably more. And I was just 5’2.

“You have no idea about how glad I am.” I replied sarcastically, mentally cursing the media and the wagging tongues of all the people in the world. He chuckled at my anger and pointed at the gym.

“Isn’t it too early for you to return to the gym?”

“And it is your business why?” I snapped at him and went to open the door for myself.

“Hey!” he called behind me but I barged through the door and all sets of eyes landed on me. All the chaos shut down and every person in the gym started at me like I was a maniac running on the streets at two in the morning in the costume of a clown yelling ‘hip hip hurray’. Yeah, that was exactly how they were glaring at me.

“Back to training everyone!” Dimitri’s voice echoed from the top, from his entrance of his what they called an office. Stumbling, little girls went back to cartwheels and coaches went back to handling everyone properly.

“Oh God Lizzie!” Lauren or Roo hug tackled me, and though sweaty and messy she gleamed with joy.

“Lee!” Kayla attacked me just a second later and I hugged both of them. We had been best friends in gym for years on the go, but rising competition had soared stuff between us for a while. Guess now that I was back from the impossible, it was all forgotten.

“I am so glad you are back! Geez, you scared every one of us to hell!” Kay jabbered around gesturing like a hyperactive kid. Roo just stood there trying to control her giggles.

“Ok girls, hit the ropes.” Dimitri ordered and the two of the groaned. I knew how it was like, and Kay here had dime sized rips, so it was gonna be like pathetic for her.

“What do I do?” I asked, getting my shoes and sweats off. If any of us stepped on the mats with them on, Dimitri would make us clean them all up.

“Today, I wanna test your limits. Get ready then we’ll have a little conditioning exercise.” I nodded and took the shorts off. I had a shimmery blue and violet leo on, with matching clips and no makeup. It hardly survived training as it is, and looked like Halloween makeup when I finally got home.
