“Adrian?” I got into his and Mike’s room. He was on the ground, shirtless and doing pushups. Mike was sitting on the couch, counting while reading a newspaper.

“What’s going on?” I raised a brow as Adrian gave me a tired smile. Boy, just his abs made me drool all over the place. Biting my lip, I controlled my blush as Mike opened his mouth.

“Just checking how strong your macho man is.” Mike smirked at me and I rolled my eyes. It was over a hundred pushups and he was obviously tired. Besides I was pretty sure he had made him do something else before this too.

“Stop bullying him. And yeah, I came to steal him from you.” I winked at Adrian and he grinned at me. Or was it a relieved smile? I don’t know.

“You asked your brothers?”

“Arbaaz said yes. Hailie is in the city, there’s a concert tonight. So yeah, I want to meet her and take him along. And they said take Tyson.” I stuck out my tongue at him and he squint his eyes at me. I had begged for letting us take Tyson, since Mike would have given us zero privacy and tortured Adrian throughout.

“Alright.” As soon as he said that, Adrian ran into the shower. Just in minutes he was ready in a jacket and jeans. I was myself wearing jeans, top, jacket and boots too. New York cold made you cover up. We got into the car waiting outside our hotel and Adrian slammed the door shut. We got out the gates, with no paparazzi following us fortunately.

“So, there are three reasons I wanted to steal you.” I explained and he turned his attention towards me, “One, so you could meet Hailie, and I could meet her. Two, you could also meet Eminem, I think. And three, tell you everything.”

“Huh?” he asked not so smartly, but I loved how he made the three letters  sound oh-so-sexy. And I made a fool out of myself when I muttered ‘huh’. Shaking my head I concentrated on the topic before me. Telling him every single secret I had, to have nothing between us. Crystal clear.

“I think I’m ready to tell you everything I wasn’t confident to.” I looked at Tyson and he nodded. Pressing a button, he created a barrier between the front and back, giving me more privacy. This was a secret only a selective people on Earth knew, and I planned to keep it that way. It was already difficult for me to disclose everything at one go, but I had to get done with it. Taking my left wrist in my hand, I wiped of the concealer.

“That’s a burn mark. When did you get this?” he looked back and forth between my mark and my face.

“When I was five. Let me tell you from the start, keeping the details out. My dad was already married when he got married to my mom. Then they had me. It was an illusion of a good family till he started abusing my mom. It went on for years before he confessed about his first marriage and left us. My mom strived to make ends meet, and died in a car accident as she was thinking about how my dad refused to even acknowledge our existence.”

I gulped the lump in my throat and continued with my express explanation,

“Child welfare handed me over to my mom’s family, who didn’t support her either. So when they got me back to India, they left me on the street. That’s when I saw a girl burning to death and those murderers gave me this mark. And oh yeah, it was somehow connected with child trafficking. Then, I was locked in some white dungeon till I somehow got out, and went unconscious near the highway exit. That was how Salman found me, and the rest is history.”

I practically just kept talking like it was a plot of a movie. It was so much more than how simple I had made it sound, and Adrian knew it. I kept it short because it was impossible to describe everything, it was too painful. I had locked all those memories in a corner of my mind, and I was afraid if the lock opened, it’d flood my mind and I’d drown to death in them. Some things were just better not messed with in life, and these memories were one of them.
