ALISHA

My eyes were half closed and I was hardly able to walk as I got out of my room, pulling my luggage behind me. Why did I pack so much while travelling? I had no idea. But I loved to have options when outside, so I had to pack a lot. Yes, I was just rambling I know.

“Um, did you see yourself in the mirror?” Sohail poked my arm and I blinked at him blankly. Why would I bother to do that at four in the morning?

“Pixie we…” Salman came towards me and started laughing when he laid one glance at me. The others looked and started laughing right on my freaking face.

“What?” I asked, looking down towards myself.

“Kill me now.” I mumbled, rolling my eyes and blushing of embarrassment. I had worn my pajamas instead on sweatpants, which too were inside out. Only I could be so careless in life.

“I love you.” Sohail clicked a picture of me in the fashion disaster of an outfit and I groaned. Thank God he didn’t have a twitter. I went upstairs to change into the purple sweats I had and came down to find everyone still chuckling about my little accident.

“Ok, joke’s over.” I announced, but everyone burst with laughter yet again. This time I was wearing the right clothes, I double checked in the mirror. Ignoring them, I just pulled my bags and tried to hurl them into the trunks.

“Let me help.” Mike came to me and picked up both the bags in one go, crashing them inside the car. Impressed I smiled at him through the weakness I felt taking over my body. He understood and left me alone in the car. Plugging my phone to the stereo I let Lithium play on repeat as I closed my eyes and sat inside like a dead body.

“Hey.” Sam came in and I gave her a half smile. Sohail got into the front seat and tapped my knee, and I opened one eye to acknowledge his presence. Both of them shrugged and let me be, talking between themselves. My phone chimed in the middle loudly and I put a hand on its speakers trying to block out all the annoying sounds it made.

“Shut up!” I yelled at my phone the third time it beeped in two minutes.

“I think you should really check what it wants.” Sohail looked back at me, concerned about my safety.

“I don’t want to. I would rather die than check.” I looked away, outside. The roads were never deserted in Mumbai, you would always find cars anytime of the day.

“Dying is not an option right now.” He handed me my phone and I clenched my jaw to avoid fights right now. The better half of my brain knew I would make irrational comments now, so it was just better to shut up and gulp the anger.

“Shit’s outta drug. Like how much does it need for God’s sake?!” I threw the phone on the seat, not bothering to do what it was telling me to do. I did not want to change the vial. Period.

“I know you’re pissed, but the only way to get it right is to change the vial.” Sam tried to calm me down, and I ignored her. I loved her, she was one lady that Sohail loved and was serious with for a pleasant change. But right now this philosophy class was the last thing I needed.

“I don’t want to.” I mumbled.

“Please? I can help if you want me to.” Sohail pleaded, and the chauffeur pulled over on cue. I let him exchange seats with Sam and come to the backseat. Pulling the barrier between the front and back, he made me show him the pod site.

“Alright, you have a vial right?” he asked and I got it out from my bag.

“As if anyone will ever let me breathe without this thing around.” I replied rudely but Sohail ignored it. He and Salman understood that my behavior was influenced by PF and let it go. I knew that it was my responsibility in the end, but then they couldn’t help but feel pity.
