A few years after the death of your father, and you had gone to university to study forensic science. You wanted to honour your father by working at NCIS, and as a way of seeing the team that had solved your father's death, you especially wanted to see Abby again. You worked hard over the years to get where you wanted to be. You had lived with your aunt, who had moved you out of the city for a better live. When you had turned eighteen you had moved back for your university studies. You had also kept in contact with Abby and the rest of the team by extension, you texted her daily and called her every so often.
You were good at your studies and you had graduated top of your class. You had placed calls for jobs positions as well as intern positions. You eventually managed to get a job as a junior assistant at NCIS, you were hoping to work under Abby but knew that you may not be assigned to her lab or even Gibbs' team. You arrived at the front gates of the Navy building, and gave your name to the front desk you were directed to. You were told you needed to be escorted through the building. The agent assigned was called Anderson and the pair of you made your way to the director's office. You were about to step off the elevator when you almost crashed into Gibbs and Tony. "Hey, Y/N." Tony told you while Gibbs gave a half glare, half smile. "What are you doing here?" Gibbs questioned. "Hey, I'm here about an assistant position. Forensic scientist. I've always been interested in it." Tony nodded, "So you enjoyed, Usual Suspects as a kid?" You nodded. "I have to go the director is expecting me." Gibbs nodded. "Good luck kid." Tony echoed the sentiments and you moved away, waving at McGee and Ziva who were in the bullpen.
Your discussion/interview with the director was brief and went well. She hired you practically on the spot and assigned you to Gibb's team meaning you would work with Abby. You spent the rest of the day getting security clearance and ID as well as finishing off unpacking at your new place. You texted Abby to tell her you got the job you had applied for but didn't say where you were working. The rest of the team texted you to congratulate you on your new job.
The next day you were about to enter Abby's lab when you heard her complaining to what sounded like the team about her new assistant. "What if they're like Chip and try to kill me? What if they don't like me?" The team tried to calm her down but you could tell it wasn't working. You stepped into the room, "Well, if you really don't want me to assist you then I guess I'll just leave." You stated in a teasing tone. Abby squealed and Tony rubbed his ears mumbling something under his breath. "Why didn't you tell me you were my new assistant?"
"I wanted to surprise you Abby. The better question is why didn't they tell you?" Tony muttered something about a bet and McGee mumbled something about wanting it to be a surprise. Gibbs scoffed and pulled you into a hug. "Good job kid." There was a moment of bonding silence before Gibbs barked that they all should get back to work.
