Jessamine had picked two electives, which were Care of Magical Creatures and Ancient Runes.
She heard how Harry and Ron were confused how Hermione would manage her classes since she had taken all electives, but Jessamine was sure that Professor McGonagall had taken care of it.

While the Gryffindors started their first day with Divination, Jessamine had Study of Ancient Runes.

Professor Babbling had a very dry voice, but the topic itself was very interesting.
Jessamine found herself disappointed that class was over at the end of the lesson.

Her next class was charms, which went pretty well. Some charms she knew already due to Professor Flitwick teaching her privately, and like last year, he didn't ask her once to demonstrate something.

She would have to do that later in the afternoon during one of her free hours.

Jessamine was enjoying the afternoon sun outside and walked to Hagrid's.

She knocked against the wooden door with her fist and smiled broadly when the half-giant opened.

„Hey Hagrid", Jessamine greeted him.

„Jess!", Hagrid smiled and stepped aside.
„Come in."

Inside, Fang was sleeping by the fireplace, drooling over the floor.
Jessamine kneeled down and scratched his furry belly, he wagged his tail in his sleep.

„So", Jessamine straightened up and grinned.
„How is it to be a Professor?"

Hagrid blushed deeply and pushed a plate full of cookies onto the table.
„Dumbledore is a great man, yes he is", Hagrid said proudly and sat down, his chair groaning beneath him.

„What are you planning to do?", Jessamine asked him curiously and joined Hagrid at the table.

He winked conspiratorially.
„Is a secret, ya'll find out soon enough."

He seemed so excited, that Jessamine could not help but feel excited as well.
„How's Sisi?", Hagrid asked her and munched on one of his cookies.

„She's somewhere, I guess", Jessamine shrugged and tried to take a small bite of a cookie.

It was so full of caramel, that her teeth firmly stuck together.

„Hmmmm hmm", Jessamine tried to say.
„What?"

Hagrid looked at her quizzically, before understanding.
„Right, those can be a bit hard t' chew."

Jessamine needed a few tries until she could force her jaw open.
It felt very tender.

„Thann ye fo the cookies", Jessamine said without moving her hurting jaw.

„Take some more", Hagrid said enthusiastically and pushed the bowl closer to her.

Not wanting to appear rude, Jessamine stuffed her pockets with them, before saying (or actually trying to say) goodbye.
She quickly walked back to the castle, the setting sun casting a golden glow on the lands.

Entering the entrance hall and directing her steps into the direction of the Great Hall, Jessamine passed Professor McGonagall and Professor Dumbledore.
The Head of Gryffindor nodded at her.

„Ms. Lince", the tall witch said.

„Hlo", Jessamine tried to squeeze out as some of her teeth had stuck back together.

Professor McGonagall halted and eyed her confusedly, but Professor Dumbledore smiled knowingly.

„Ah, I see", the white-bearded man said with twinkling eyes, „you had some of Hagrid's cookies."
