Rose's POV.
I straighten out my black dress and put on my nice red reels. Tonight was going to be fun. I already knew it. All of my friends were going to be there and I can't wait.
I checked myself over in the body length mirror, my best friend behind me waiting for me to say that I'm ready to go. JJ shook his keys and stood up smiling at me.
"I'm ready let's go JJ," I turn around and face him. He's been my best friend for a very long time, everyone always says that we would look great together but we don't feel that way towards each other.
JJ was wearing a nice black button up shirt, with nice pants and Nike shoes to match. He looked good. We were both finally ready to start the fun night.
"Great let's go Rose." I grab my bag and head out the door, JJ by my side. There was a New Years Eve party that Calfreezy and Tobi were hosting. We jump into JJ's fancy car and drive the short distance. It didn't take long for us to pull up outside the party.
The place was massive, the party was loud and I knew this was going to be a good night. JJ and I walked in and was greeted by the rest of the Sidemen and heaps of other youtubers. A waiter comes up and hands us two fancy glasses of alcohol.
I gladly accept, and we both pour down the beverage burning out throats in the process. The music was thumping in our heads as the clock continued to tick down to midnight.
It was 11:39. 21 minutes until the new year. Another year with my best friends living life to the fullest. JJ and I continued to dance the time away enjoying each others company.
The dance floor was crowed, everyone dancing to the beat of the music. Drinks or phones or vlogging cameras in hand but not us. I was enjoying the moment with JJ.
JJ had always been there for me. Through thick and thin, I don't know what I would do without him. He's my best friend. Always will be. JJ grabbed my hand and lead me away from the crowd out onto the balcony.
The night was black with white freckles, and a shining moon. I rested my arms on the railing leaning slightly over. The city lights sparkled down below us.
The breeze blew my hair out of my face as JJ and I stood in peaceful silence. The crowd comes out onto the large balcony for the countdown for the new year.
I saw a glimpse of Ethan below with fireworks. The crowd then started the countdown. 10 seconds until New Year.

Ethan gets the fireworks ready, sparking the flame. JJ squeezes my hands and I see him looking at me through the corner of my eyes. I kept my eyes on the night sky, counting down with everyone.

The fireworks shot into the sky creating massive bangs of light and colour. Everyone cheered, JJ was still holding my hand and turned me to face him, I was pressed again his chest. I smiled, the lights from the fireworks shining on our faces.
He leans in and connecting his lips to mine. It didn't take me long to process what was happening. JJ was kissing me, and I was kissing back. He pulled away, I had a pink blush now and he smiled over me, catching his breath.
"Here's to a new year with you by my side," He smiles, it felt like it was just us on this balcony. My heart stopped. My brain clicked, after all this time convincing myself what he was to me.
He was more than a best friend. I love him, I had fallen in love with my best friend. Seems like he was thinking the same.
"JJ, I don't want to be friends with you for another year," I said looking at me. I saw his smile drop and his heart aching in those beautiful eyes of his. The grip on my hands loosen slightly.
"I want to be more," I breath out feeling my chest lift, I stand up a little higher, hand on his soft cheek and kiss him again. This is going to be one hell of a year.
"I love you Rose,"
"I love you to,"
