Ashton

"Sorry if this call sounds rude, checking is Ava is real or not. We just want to make sure the information is correct,"

"Oh gosh, don't worry about it," I smiled, "I'm a bit short on time but hit me with any questions,"

"How old is she, and what's her full name?,"

"Fourteen, she's now Ava Irwin but was Ava Johnson,"

"You've adopted her?"

"I have, yes. It's coming up to a year since I met her, and even though the place before wasn't nice, she's doing amazing,"

"Where is her dad from?"

"England,"

"Okay, sorry if those questions sounded stupid. We don't really want to interview you, but it's our job to keep them safe,"

"I get it. Perhaps we could show a photo?"

They nodded and got their phone up, holding up a family photo which included Marcus. He had the same eyes, the same complexion and hair, and practically the same smile.

"They look so similar," I smiled, showing the picture of Ava as pride, "I'm sorry this all seems so crazy,"

"We'd be lying if we said we hadn't been trying to track her down, I guess. Would it be okay for us to tell him, and email his number or snapchat over? We'd love them to talk,"

"Absolutely.I hope it goes well, because she's really excited. I don't want to give too much because it's very private, but the things she went through were so lonely, and she's so overwhelmed by the idea of a blood relative. I'm sure he's a lovely boy,"

"He's so lovely. He's a bit quiet at times, but he's lovely. We have a couple of younger children and he helps us a lot,"

"I'm at work, so I need to go, but thankyou so much. You could've easily told us no. Any visits can be travelled by us,"

"Thankyou. We are just his foster family, but we want what's best for him,"

I ended the call and turned the iPad off, washing my hands before the first patient. Calum came back in and sat down, smiling.

"All good?"

"So good. They are gonna talk later,"

"This timing has turned out pretty well," he chuckled, "we have two toddlers coming in first. One of them needs a filling, it goes across the back of her front teeth,"

"The one who needs a filling is called Jasmine, the other one is called Tia. I suggest she goes first,"

I nodded and lowered the chair a little, grabbing the tools I needed.

This whole situation was so surreal to me, but I was becoming more and more grateful. It seemed he was a lovely boy, and knowing how much Ava stuck with Harry, having him possibly round the house would change everything.

Those times Ava didn't want to speak to Viola or I, she could be with him. I knew she felt like we didn't understand sometimes.

"I'm just going to warn you, the process with Ava went quickly. This time, if anything changes, the process could move slower," Calum said, standing to get the patients.

"Well it's a process I am willing to take,"

He left, so I put on a Disney film for them; he walked in with two little girls, both holding hands.

"Hello, I'm Ashton," I smiled, giving their mum a handshake.

"What are you names?"

"Jasmine,"
