He laughed.

"See you ladies later!" I exclaimed, throwing my hand up behind me as I walked with Colby out of the garage door, and back up to his room.

The call to Mr. Roberts didn't take long, and he assured me that my job was still waiting on me when I was ready to come back. I was beginning to think that Colby might have something to do with him being so compliant with the situation. So I asked when I hung up the phone.

"Cooolbyyy." I sang out, as I lay back against the couch and looked over to see what he was doing on his laptop.

"Yeah?" He answered.

His brow was creased in concentration, and he was chewing his bottom lip.

"What are you doing?" I asked, forgetting my original question for a second.

"Huh?" He asked, looking at me. "Oh, Sam sent me the list of jobs and the order of guys that are going. I'm trying to rearrange it so that my spot is covered for this week without leaving an empty space."

"You can go to work. I'll still be here, ya know." I replied, leaning my head over on his shoulder. "I have to go back to work soon anyways. Speaking of, did you compel my boss?"

He didn't answer so I leaned my head up and looked at him.

He was still staring at the laptop.

"Colby!"

He glanced at me, then back to the screen. "Yeah, I did. Seemed necessary if you wanted to keep your job. I know how excited you were about getting it in the first place so I didn't want you to lose it for something that was out of your control."

I reached my arm across his stomach and lay my head over onto his chest. "Thank you. I love you."

He tugged his arm out from under me and placed it around my shoulders. "Huh, didn't think you would be happy about me messing with your bosses brains but okay. You're welcome. And I love you...but I need to get this done really quickly."

I felt him lean forwards and press a kiss to my hair.

I sighed and sat up.

"Where's my phone? If you can't talk to me right now, I need something to do. I'm bored."

He cracked a grin, and lifted his hand, pointing to his bedside table. "In the drawer. Didn't wanna lose it. Might be dead though."

I got up and walked to the little table and pulled out my very dead phone. "Damn it." I grumbled, hooking it up to the charger.

It wouldn't even come on. I went back over to the couch and sat down next to Colby, leaning my head back over onto his shoulder.

"This looks boring." I replied, watching him switch names around in the spreadsheet.

"It is, but it's necessary. It won't take long and then I'll tell you all about how Millie died, Aza, Elias, and his One, the whole thing."

My eyes widened, and I shut my mouth so that he could hurry up.

Elias had a One? That was new.

I wonder who killed Millie? Probably Colby. I knew it was.

I could just feel it. It was actually really weird that I could feel it so strongly right now. It seemed like my usual ability to pick up on someone's mood was intensifying ever since I woke up.

Right now, I could feel Colby's focus in what he was doing, his rush to get it done so that he could spend time with me. I could even somehow pick up on how excited Kat was that Sam wasn't working tonight, and he would be able to stay home with her. They were all the way in Sam's room.

I shook my head a little and tried to ignore it. I was probably just still...I don't know, out of it or something from everything that had happened. My wires were all screwy.

I lay there watching him for a few more minutes until he closed the laptop.

"I'm done."

I sat up, and turned to face him. For the next couple of hours, he went over everything. From Elias erasing my memories, to why, to asking creepy ass Aza for help, killing Millie, and all the way up until he and Sam agreed to bite the witch, Melanie was her name, I think.

I felt a surge of jealousy rage through me. He wasn't supposed to bite anyone anymore except me. Not ANYONE.

"Kat knows about this?" I asked, my tone a little higher than normal.

He nodded, chewing his lip.

"Yeah...she agreed, and so did he, so that they could help me. Help you. I didn't wanna do it Chloe. I had to."

I nodded aggressively. "Yeah, I know. That's the only way you could bring me back, yadayada. Maybe you could've just tried to bite me and see if that would've worked."

His mouth fell open. "Did you just yadayada me?"

I rolled my eyes.

He sighed, and took my hand in his.

"Love, do you really think that I'm going to bite someone that doesn't even know I'm a vampire because of the memory loss, when she's unconscious and can't tell me if she wants me to or not? Plus, how was I supposed to know if that would work? Nothing in any of the lore says that it will."

I knew I was being petty but damn it, he was mine. And I was his.

He wasn't supposed to bite anyone else.

"I know Colby. It's not your fault. I just...don't like it."

He grimaced. "I didn't either. Sam and I both got sick all over the place. It wasn't pretty." I smiled, but tried to hide it behind my hand. "You like that don't you? That someone else made me sick?" He started grinning himself, watching me.

I busted out laughing.

"I can't help it! But I'm glad that you both sacrificed to wake me up. I am eternally grateful."

He shook his head, still smiling. "Don't be. I can't live without you. I was being selfish."

I leaned over and kissed him. "I'm selfish too."

Colby sighed again and rolled his eyes. "Sam, will you just come in and stop lurking?"

Sam opened the door, with Kat on his arm. "Was just waiting for you to finish your conversation brother. Got the list straightened out?"
