"Not with...the unusual developments that happened." He glanced at me, then away.

The others kind of looked at me weird too.

"What? Why does everyone keep looking at me like that? So I helped her. I took her pain away. You guys already know that I'm a witch. Why are you freaking out?" I asked, noticing that I sounded bitchy.

It was annoying though, having people look at me like I was a freak, especially when the people in question were actual freaking vampires! Regret swarmed my stomach, making me feel nauseous to the point where I sat up, holding my hand over my mouth.

"Are you okay baby?" Colby asked quietly, moving my hair back from my shoulder.

I shook my head and moved my hand.

"My necklace. I need it." I gasped out.

It wasn't my regret that I was feeling. It was theirs. All of the people in this room were now feeling bad because they had made me feel judged.

Colby quickly dug the necklace out and put it back on me. The feeling passed and I looked around meeting everyone's eyes.

"I'm the same person that I was before you knew about it. Just like you guys are the same people that I originally met, before I knew that you were vampires. Twice. So don't act like I'm some random witch that you're supposed to hate or be wary of just because I have some sort of freaky thing, just like you do." I cracked a smile at them. "I mean, you all want to eat me, but I'm not judging you for it."

That broke the tension and they smiled or laughed.

"Bitch, I don't care if you're a witch. That just means that you can do cool shit. I still love you!" Tara yelled, jumping up so fast, and popping up in front of me.

I shrieked, as she threw her arms around me, hugging me.

I laughed, and choked a little from her vice grip.

"Tara, still human. Can't breathe."

She let me go and stood back. "Oh yeah. My bad." She said, tilting her head up with an innocent little smile.

She popped back over to her seat next to Jake and sat down, crossing her legs.

"So, how did you make it to where Devyn couldn't feel the pain? I've never heard of a witch being able to do that. Of course, we don't have much association with them so I guess we wouldn't. They hate us. No offense, but we kind of hate them." She said, winking at me.

I rolled my eyes at her.

"I don't know. I haven't even started any lessons or whatever. It just felt like I could. It was on instinct. I hated that she was in pain, and seeing Corey in the torment that he was in and I just wanted to help. I knew that I could do it." I replied, looking down at my hands, stretching them out like I expected them to look different after what they had done.

"That's cool though. Maybe you can help me, when I turn." Kat said, meeting my eyes.

"Let's talk about that some other time." Sam said hastily.

"You already agreed Sam." Kat said, her voice hard. "You said that when the time was right, you were okay with me turning."

Sam shook his head, and kind of glared at her. "No, you pretty much forced me into saying that Katrina. This life is not something that I want for you." He glanced up, noticing that everyone was watching them. "Can we just talk about this later?"

She huffed out a breath, and sat back, arms folded. "Fine. But I'm not changing my mind."

He looked at her and shook his head, but didn't reply.

Why was he so against it? If he wanted to be with her forever, I didn't understand what the problem was. Colby had acted the same way, avoiding the topic whenever I brought it up.

I had felt him stiffen under me, when the topic was brought up between Kat and Sam. Whatever, we had enough to worry about right now and that was a problem for the future.

"Colby, you wanna relay what the Council said to you?" Sam asked, giving him a pointed look.

Colby glared at him.

"Not really, but I guess I have no choice now. I have to go with Elias, to meet them tonight. In their chambers. In one hour."

I sucked in a breath and turned in his lap to look him in the eye. "When did you find out?"

He didn't look away, holding my gaze, his blue eyes burning into mine. "Right before you woke up."

"And you're just NOW telling me this?! With everyone around? You couldn't have told me sooner? You've had all damn day to tell me Colby, and now you have to meet them in one hour! What if it's the last time I see you? What if they lock you up, or kill you?! I can't- you can't go! We need to-"

I was freaking out, and he knew it.

He grabbed my face in between his hands, staring into my eyes.

"Chloe, you need to calm down. I know what's at risk but I promised you that I would figure it out and I will. I should've told you sooner, but I didn't want you worrying the entire day about something that was out of your control."

I shook my head, yanking it from his grasp. Damn this! He wasn't going.

I wasn't letting him just walk out of this door, out of my life.

"No. NO. You're not going. We'll run away or something. No. This can't be happening. I can't lose-"

My voice broke and I couldn't breathe.

I started gasping for air, tears streaming down my face.

"Chloe." He said my name with a dominance that I hadn't heard in a long time.

I looked back over to him to see his face stern, his lips drawn in a tight line.

"You will calm down or I will make you calm down. Compulsion may not last on you, probably because of the witch thing, but damn it, it will work for a little while."

My eyebrows shot straight into my hairline. He wasn't kidding, I could see it in his face.

"Now," His voice came out more gentle this time. "This isn't you."
