I woke up with a start, reaching for Chloe, only to find that she wasn't there. I rubbed my eyes and sat up, looking around the room. Prissy was at the foot of the bed, still curled up sleeping, but Chloe was nowhere to be seen.

Logically, I knew there wasn't any reason to freak out, but I still didn't like not knowing where she was. So I listened, tuning into her, and her only, blocking everything else. I found her.

Downstairs, sleeping. I smiled as I listened to her heavy breathing. So much for staying awake.

I got up and stretched, walking downstairs in my black boxer briefs. Wasn't like everyone hadn't seen me half naked before. I stopped at the entryway to the living room, leaning against the frame, smiling at the scene in front of me.

Chloe was lying on the couch, her legs straight out in front of her, one arm hanging off, with the other still resting on top of the laptop keyboard, which was across her waist. Guess she fell asleep writing. I was happy that she was doing that again.

She would be missing a part of herself if she didn't. I walked over to her and leaned down close to her face.

"Chloe!" I yelled, jerking out of the way so that she didn't hit me, when she sat straight up, eyes wide.

"Why the fuck did you do that?!" She yelled at me.

I couldn't help but to laugh. Her eyes were flashing, as she hit me across my bare chest.

She was hot when she was angry.

"You said you wanted to stay up all day. Doesn't look like that's what you're doing. I was trying to help."

She rolled her eyes at me then yawned. "Yeah right. You just think it's funny when you scare people."

I shrugged. "Well yeah. It is. I'm sorry I scared you though."

"No you're not." She grumbled, swinging her legs around to rest on the floor. "I didn't mean to go to sleep. I was writing. I guess I just fell asleep. I didn't sleep well last night."

I raised my eyebrows. "Really? You didn't talk cuz I didn't hear you. That would have woken me up. Did you have nightmares?"

She glanced away from me and shook her head. "No...just restless, I guess. I'm gonna go grab an energy drink from the kitchen."

I dashed to the kitchen, grabbed one and dashed back before she had even stood up. "Here." I said, holding it out to her.

She took it, a frown crossing her face.

"I could've gotten it. I'm not helpless, you know."

"I know that Love. Just being helpful. Plus, I owed you for scaring you."

She cracked the can and drank deeply, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand when she was done. "Yeah, you did. You're right."

I grinned, and leaned over, kissing her cheek. "You're cute when you're grumpy."

She groaned. "Go put some damn clothes on Brock, before-"

"Hey guys!"

"Too late." She said, annoyed.

Sam and Kat were standing in the doorway, chipper as ever. Sam was eyeing me, his eyebrows raised.

"Yeah, go put some clothes on Brock." He retorted, while Kat's eyes grew large and she shielded her eyes with one hand.

I sighed and did as they said, popping back up on the couch, sitting beside Chloe.

She yelped, when she noticed me, and smacked me again.

"Fucking Hell Colby! STOP doing that!"

I laughed again. "Halloween is going to be fun." I replied, grabbing her hand as she tried to hit me again.

She was just going to hurt herself.

She glared at me.

"You so better not do whatever it is you're planning, I swear to God."

I shrugged. "Wasn't planning on doing anything. Except maybe go to a haunted house or two before the party? Sound good?" I asked, looking over at Sam.

He shrugged.

"Sounds good to me. We can see if the others wanna join us. Make it a group thing."

So that's what we did. Most of the guys didn't want to go but we did manage to get Corey and Devyn, and Jake and Tara to agree to join us. I spent my nights listening for any strange noises, and watching Chloe sleep.

She did manage to get back on her normal schedule. It kind of sucked because I didn't get to spend as much time with her, so I started waking up earlier. She'd be off to work soon now though.

I had decided to stay awake, and take her to work. I wasn't taking any chances with this. I had to sleep however, so as much as I hated to, I let Sam take the midday shift, with me coming back when she got off.

Knew I could trust him with her. Hopefully, I wouldn't have to do this for much longer. It was Halloween tonight, and Chloe didn't have to work tomorrow so we had a long 3 day weekend.

I was excited to go to the haunted attractions with her. This would be our first holiday together. Fitting that it was Halloween.

She made it through her first day back, bubbling with energy when I picked her up.

"So you had a crappy first day back?" I joked, as she took a breath in between telling me about this incredible manuscript that her boss let her read.

I would have to thank him for that.

"I had an amazing day but I also drank so many energy drinks today that I think I'm going to be up all night. I can't stop. It's a little annoying."

I laughed at her agitation. "At least you'll be able to enjoy the party. Ready for a little haunted fun first?"

She clapped her hands excitedly, like a little kid. "Hell yes, I am! Where are we going to go?"

I pulled away from the curb and headed home. "We're going to the LA Haunted Hayride." I replied, glancing at her.

She literally poked her damn lip out at me, and pouted.

Damn, I missed that.

"A hayride? That's for kids though. I thought we were going to go to something actually scary."

I shrugged. "This isn't for kids. Supposed to be scary and it's more than just a hayride."
