"Wait...wha- lead? No." I shook my head violently. "No, no one is leading. I'm not. I don't even know how to BE a witch, how would I lead them? Plus, what kind of witches? Dark, light, the kind that only show up on Halloween, I mean, I don't know." I was rambling again.

Damn it, but this was freaking me out! I felt Colby's hand on the other side of my hip, pulling me close to him for comfort.

"Calm down. You don't have to do anything that you don't want to do." He whispered in my ear.

I closed my eyes and listened to his soft, deep voice while I took a few deep breaths.

"Okay." I replied, opening my eyes when I felt a little better. "I'm not leading anyone. I don't care what some stupid prophecy or whatever says. I don't even know how to run my own life, I'm sure as shit not going to fuck up others." I met Melanie's gaze.

She was pursing her lips looking at me thoughtfully.

After a moment, she shrugged and smiled like it was no big deal.

"Okay. Like Colby said, you don't have to do anything that you don't wanna do. I won't tell anyone, so no one will bother you about it. If you change your mind and want to know more, just let me know."

My mouth fell open a little. I really didn't expect her to be so nonchalant about it.

"Good." I replied, then remembered the rest of what she had said. "Wait...you said hybrid. What is that? What does that mean?"

The only thing I knew about so called hybrids was what I had seen in television shows, or read about. The mix of two creatures, combining their powers. She smiled hugely.

Stop fucking smiling so much, damn.

Why did she have to be so happy about my entire world going even more crazy than it already was?

"Yes, you're a hybrid. That means that you are a witch, but you are also part vampire."

My mouth fell open again, but a hell of a lot wider. "I'm sorry, WHAT? A vampire? How is that even possible? I'm living, breathing, still have a pulse." I put my fingers to my wrist, just to be sure, and sighed in relief when I felt the beat against my skin. "See." I said, holding my arm towards her so that she could feel it. "Not dead. Still alive. Not a vampire."

The memory of craving Colby's blood flashed in my mind, but I shoved it away. I was just coming to terms with being a witch.

What the fuck was happening?

She gripped my wrist and placed my arm back in my lap.

"I know you're still alive Chloe. You aren't a full vampire. Only part. You have some of their cravings, though I'm sure it's only vampire blood, and probably only Colby's since he is your One. I don't know much about it, but I'm willing to lend you a book that will explain more, if you want. I know that this was probably caused when you went into the coma and almost died. Colby tried to save you with his blood, but you were on the verge of death. Since you are his One, the blood works harder to bring you back, but you were too far gone. So it brought you back, only half vampire. Does that make sense?"

I shook my head. "Not at all." I replied, still dumbstruck.

Half vampire?

"Does that mean that I'm going to live forever, or that I will inevitably become a vampire when I die? This is so much to take in." I leaned forwards with my elbows on my knees and placed my head in my hands.

"I'm sorry baby. I didn't know this would happen. I can't say that I wouldn't do it again, because I was trying to save you, but I am sorry that you didn't have a choice in this." Colby said, regret coating his voice.

I looked up, and met his sorrowful gaze.

"No Colby, this isn't your fault. I would've done the same thing if I were in your position. I would have died without you. It's just a lot to understand. I went from being a normal nobody to a vampire's One, also a witch, and now a witch/vampire hybrid that's supposed to lead all other witches. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to handle all of this."

I sighed and leaned into his side as he pulled me closer.

"We take it one step at a time. I didn't even know that Witch/Vampire hybrids existed." He replied. "But you know I'm with you every step of the way. Whatever happens."

"They don't exist. Or didn't." Melanie replied, cutting off our little moment. "From what I know, you will crave Colby's blood sometimes, you will live forever, unless you are killed. You won't die from natural causes. No getting sick, or old. If you die, you turn into a vampire, and lose your witch side. Your powers will be gone. You are still able to let your One feed from you, since you are technically still alive. What I'm excited to see is how your powers will react to this. You're already so strong, being a natural witch with what they call True Power. It is the power to generate any energy field and then use that field for any magical purpose. Or almost any magical purpose. With Colby's blood running through your veins, that power is magnified even more. It's going to be amazing watching you improve and grow."

I blushed under the intensity of her gaze. She was looking at me like I was some kind of miracle that she couldn't believe existed. I didn't like it.

I wasn't special and didn't like to be in the spot light.

It was hard enough believing that someone like Colby loved me, of all people.

"Can we just start teaching me how to control this shit before I hurt someone? Please?"

I didn't want to talk about it anymore. I could feel the energy building in me right now, just from being stressed out and I wanted nothing more than to blast something to release the tension inside my body. I felt like a rubber-band pulled back, ready to snap or break.
