"What? What's happening?"

I shot to my feet and then Sam was there.

"What is it brother?"

Elias looked at him, his face distressed. "The Council isn't planning on letting Colby go. I overheard some vamps that were part of the guard talking about it in the stairwell. They want to pin everything on him, everything, even charge him with being leader of the Rogue clan undercover. Saying that he has been relaying private inside information to Aza and the witches. It didn't sound good Sam. Hillmond wants to take him out and he's making a good case against him. They're going to torture him, pick his brain, then kill him. He's had it planned since he got the info from Jade."

The girl in his arms looked sickly, pale, and ragged. She caught my eye and the pity that I saw in them turned my stomach.

"They can't do that!" I exclaimed. "Colby has been nothing but loyal to the Council since he joined their ranks!"

Well, that wasn't entirely true but he only did what he did because of me.

"Calm down Chloe, we'll figure it out." Sam said, but his voice didn't sound so sure.

"I'm getting sick of everyone telling me to calm down Sam! This is not the time to calm the fuck down! It's the time to fucking DO SOMETHING! We can't just sit around and wait for them to torture him and kill him! He is your BROTHER!"

I don't know what happened. Anger was flooding through me, filling every pore that I had, energy singing through my veins. On my last word, it shot out of me in a thick haze that slammed into Sam, sending him flying through the air, slamming against the garage wall with a sickening crunch.

"Sam!" Kat cried, running over to him.

She crouched down next to him, and swiped her thumb across the corner of his mouth. He was bleeding...and unconscious.

What did I do?

"What did you do?! Chloe, what the fuck did you just do?!" She exclaimed, glaring at me accusingly.

I was in shock, frozen from what I had done.

"I- I didn't mean to. It just happened." I uttered out slowly, bringing my hands up to look at them.

What the fuck was happening to me?

"Chloe!" She cried again and I looked over to meet her gaze.

She looked frantic. Everyone else was still, looking at me with their eyes wide and mouths open. Probably going back to the whole reason why they didn't like witches in their minds.

I was ashamed of myself right then, and I understood. I rushed over to Sam, just as Jake popped up beside him and leaned down.

"Give him your blood Kat." He said quietly, glancing up at me before looking over to her.

She glared at me for a second and all I could do was look back.

"Kat, I-"

"Shut up Chloe. Just get me a knife or something. I can't bite through my own fucking wrist." Her voice was harsh and I flinched like she had slapped me.

I deserved it and more though. Sam was just trying to help. I just got so angry and this happened.

This wasn't okay. I turned to go to the kitchen but Jake stopped me.

"There isn't time." He replied, before snatching Kat's wrist up to his own mouth and sinking his fangs into it.

"FUCK!" She screamed, unprepared for the sharp sting that accompanied it.

My mind shot back to Colby as I watched her place her bleeding wrist to Sam's lips. He hadn't fed in a while. He wasn't at his strongest.

He needed me. I felt the anger and a longing for Colby flood through me so strong that I was scared it would burst out of me. Literally.

I clenched my fists and bit down on my lip, trying to calm myself. At first, Sam didn't move, Kat's wrist just lying against his lifeless lips. After a moment, his eyes fluttered and he moaned, his hands coming up to hold her wrist against his mouth as he suctioned his lips around the wound.

Kat closed her eyes and sucked her lips into her mouth.

"That's enough Sam." Jake said, pulling Kat's wrist away from his mouth gently.

Sam sat up, blinking at us blearily.

"What in the hell just happened?" He asked, rubbing the back of his head, and looking at Kat.

She was holding her wrist up, taking the towel that Tara was handing her to staunch the bleeding.

"Chloe knocked you the fuck out brutha." Jake replied, cracking a smile at him.

Was now really the time to joke?

I felt so fucking bad.

"Sam, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to. It just happened. I don't even know how it happened!"

He stood up, holding on to Jake and Kat, getting his balance. "It's okay. It's your witch blood. Must be more potent than we thought if you have that kind of power without even trying or using a ritual to pull energy. That was intense."

I bit my lip and looked at the floor. I didn't want the power.

Not if it meant hurting the ones that I love without meaning to.

"You're right though. We have to do something for Colby. We can't just sit and wait. So let's go."

My head shot up, mouth falling open in a perfect O. "Huh?"

I wasn't sure that I had heard him correctly. He shrugged.

"Let's go. Right now. We go and talk to the Council. Tell them everything we know except that you're a witch obviously, and get Colby out of there. If we have to bust him out, then so be it. We'll run, and keep running. Vamps do it all the time." He looked around the room at everyone else. "Now who's coming with us?"

Everyone looked at him like he had grown two heads.

"Did that hit on the head make you stupid brother? We're all coming." This came from Corey, who was standing in the doorway.

Sam smiled and shook his head.

"You're not. You have to stay with Devyn. You know that."

Corey shook his head right back. "She's awake and she's fed. She's coming too."
