"You okay?" Colby asked.

I nodded, although I really wasn't feeling okay.

"Yeah, just ready to do this before I explode...or explode someone else."

He chuckled but I wasn't finding it very funny at the moment. I already knew that it was a real possibility and I didn't want another death on my hands.

"Okay, your aura is like a red orange right now and that could be good or bad." Melanie said, standing and offering me her hand.

I gave her a deadpan look before taking it.

"You act like I'm supposed to know what that means."

I stood up and walked with her back to the circle drawn on the floor, listening to her giggle at my sarcasm.

"Well, the red can mean energy, strength, passion, sexuality, fear, anger, or ego. While the orange can mean self-control, ambition, courage, and thoughtfulness, but also a lack of will. So, let's say that you're feeling angry, and the orange means lack of will right now. You will be buzzing with energy that needs to be released, which I'm sure you are, but have no motivation to learn how to do that safely."

"I'm not angry though." I said, mimicking her stance in the circle. "I'm just a little overwhelmed. I do feel the energy wanting to get out, and that's what scares me, so I definitely want to learn how to control it."

"I'm sure you do. It was just an example. I'm sure you'll be fine."

My palms were sweating so I shook my hand free from hers and swiped it down my jeans before placing it back into hers. "Okay, what do I do?"

She shuffled her feet and I noticed that the inside of the circle was dirt, not the dark concrete that I had originally thought.

"This is called grounding and it's a simple meditation technique. When you're feeling particularly overwhelmed or full of energy, good or bad, this will help. Even regular humans do this, so there's no need to be worried." She noticed that I was still very nervous. "Grounding is the physical connection between the electrical frequencies of the human body with Earth's. Practicing guided grounded meditation allows you to focus your mind on the present and learn to feel more balanced and aware. When your mind is unfocused you can feel uneasy, restless, and even uncomfortable. Grounding yourself can help you feel calm, peaceful and centered, which will then help you have a better control on your magic." I nodded, and let out a heavy breath. "Take off your shoes. You need to be barefoot. To connect with the Earth." She instructed.

I gave her a weird look, but did as she said, kicking my shoes out of the way. For the next two hours, Melanie instructed me on how to breathe, and center myself. How to feel each chakra in my body and how to release the tension and excess energy from them.

I really didn't think it was going to work, but when I actually felt it flowing through my body, down to the soles of my feet, then out into the Earth, I was so relaxed that I could have slept for days.

"That's amazing." I sighed.

She laughed.

"I know. The good thing is that you will always be able to pull on the energy when you need it. You already have an unlimited amount inside of you, but as you've already found out, an over use of it will make you feel sick or pass out. You can pull on the things around you for energy also. The wind, the ground, the trees. Anything really. Everything is a constant state of energy." She eyed me for a moment. "But we'll get into that next time. For now, just practice your grounding and meditation. When you think you've got that, text me."

I nodded and grinned. I was really feeling so much better about all of this.

There really was something to this meditation thing.

"Okay. Thank you so much Melanie. I don't know where I would be without you. I appreciate the help."

She smiled sweetly, and looked over to Colby, then back to me. "As I said, Sam and Colby saved one of my family member's lives. We owe them. Plus, you're one of us, Dark Arts or not. You're the Chosen One. I would help you regardless." There she goes with that again. "I'll see you next time. I have to clean up here, so I'm sure you can show yourselves out?"

Colby stood and walked to me, taking my hand. "Yeah, we got it. Thanks again Melanie."

"Of course. Anytime." With that, she turned her back on us, and started picking the candles up, and taking them to a table in the corner.

"Come on, let's go." Colby said, pulling my hand gently.

I let him lead me up the stairs and out of the cabin, before he swung me up in his arms and ran back to the car. On the drive home, I almost fell asleep.

"How are you feeling?" He asked, when my head literally fell from it's position against the car window as he stopped at a red light.

I could hear the laughter in his voice.

"Shut up." I yawned out. "I feel amazing. So relaxed. My skin isn't buzzing. My brain isn't going off the charts with a million thoughts. I'm just....here. And it feels amazing."

"Good. You needed this. Do you feel like talking about what she said?"

"About wh- whaaat?" I asked, yawning again.

"About you being..." He hesitated, looking over to me, worry in his eyes. "A hybrid. A witch vampire."

I didn't even care right then. Nothing seemed impossible, or even enough to worry about. Damn, meditation was cool!

I shook my head and smiled at him.

"No baby. I'm okay with it, I think. Right now anyways." I shrugged. "Who cares? I'm still me. Just a different kind of me. I have no choice in the matter, so I just have to learn to live with it, and learn how to deal with it." I took his hand in mine and kissed his knuckles.
