The dress was sleeveless, with a sweetheart neckline. The breast of the bodice was encrusted with what I suspected to be real diamonds, the material sheer below my breasts, then another half circle of jewels at the waist, just as the dress flared out into the skirt. The skirt was multiple layers of the same sheer material, flowing out to the ground, with intricate designs, also encrusted with jewels, lacing their way around the bottom to about a third of the way up the dress.

The train lay out behind me, designs woven into the thin material somehow, flowing out past the skirt of the dress. The pale yellow color that I thought would look absolutely horrible against my skin, actually set off my hair, and gave my skin tone a kind of dewy shine to it.

"Is this real life?" I asked, meeting Kat's gaze in the mirror as she shimmied into a dress of her own.

She laughed at me, and nodded.

"Our incredibly amazing, one of a kind, weird life."

I picked up the dress again, and let the material sift through my fingers as the lady, Ellen was her name, I think, came over to see if it needed any adjustments. "This is definitely the dress. You've chosen well. Mr. Brock will be pleased." She said approvingly as she checked and rechecked how the dress fit around me. "This doesn't need any adjustments. It's like this dress was made for you." She replied after a few minutes.

I sighed happily, still staring in the mirror. It was made for me. I was honestly not so mad at this thing called fate anymore, that seemed to be in control of my life.

It wasn't so bad.

"Chloe, it really is made for you. You're more gorgeous than I've ever seen you...and that's pretty impressive cuz my best friend is HOT." Kat replied.

I looked in the mirror and met her gaze, trying to smile. Only, the tears got the best of me and my face screwed up while my lips did some sort of weird grimace instead of a smile.

"Those better be happy tears!" She exclaimed rushing over beside me to help me down from the stool.

I nodded, and wiped my face with the back of my hand.

"They are." I laughed out, my voice cracking with emotion. "I'm still trying to figure out how this is all real. I feel like I'm in a coma and all of this is a dream, a very vivid dream. I'm scared that I'm going to wake up, still stuck in that dead beat town, with you gone and Colby doesn't even exist. My friends don't exist. There's no way that this is my life, that I'm supposed to be this happy."

I shook my head as she rubbed my bare arm and laughed. "It's okay. I feel that way too sometimes, but I understand why you feel that way. Happiness was hard for you to come by. Trust wasn't something that you gave lightly and only to very few people, most of who ended up hurting you. I get it. But Chloe, you lived through all of that. Don't you think this could be the universes way of apologizing? Of saying, holy shit, we tried to break her and she just won't budge. She deserves the world." I sobbed harder, and wrapped my arms around her neck. "You do deserve the world baby. No one deserves to be happy more than you." She pulled back from me, and looked me in the eye. "Now help me find my dress! I can't look as good as you do in that dress but damn it, I'm gonna try!"

I laughed again and wiped my face. "You could go in a paper sack and Sam wouldn't give a damn. You've always been gorgeous...but let's find that dress!"

Kat finally found her perfect dress after we dug through the various selections for about thirty more minutes. "You look like a fairy princess." I breathed as she swirled in front of the mirrors.

"I do, don't I? Oh my God, this is it, isn't it?" She breathed, holding out the sheer lace material that hung off of the dress.

It was a pastel blue that brought her hair out brilliantly. The off the shoulder, barely there sleeves, curved over into a sweetheart neckline, that was embroidered with flower patterns all over the bodice.

"That's definitely it. If Sam's heart was was still beating, it would stop when he saw you. Mine might stop right now. Holy shit Katrina." I was amazed by her beauty.

Her eyes cut to me in the mirror and she grinned.

"Get up here." She said, stepping over on the stool.

I rolled my eyes but stepped up next to her, turning to face the mirror.

"We're hot." She said, so blatantly that I couldn't stop the laugh that tried to escape.

Only I did try so I snorted instead. This started a giggling fit between us that had us both in tears, when a knock sounded on the door.

"Make up time." Devyn said as she walked through with Tara.

They both stopped in their tracks.

"Well fuck me." Tara replied, staring at us wide eyed.

"You are breathtaking. You both look so...beautiful, gorgeous...I don't know. Those words aren't enough. Just wow." Devyn said, her voice quiet.

"We know." Kat said nudging my shoulder.

"Thanks you guys." I replied, smiling at them.

Dev shook her head a little, then glanced at the digital clock on the bedside table.

"Shit, we have to hurry. Let's do this."

She sat us both down in chairs, and for the next little while, worked on our faces until she thought they were perfect. She stood back to admire her work, nodding.

"Perfection. They won't know what hit them. Can vampires faint?" She asked, curling her hand under her jaw, while tapping her chin.

We all laughed, Kat and I a little nervously. Time was getting closer. We finished up, sliding on the shoes that were sent up to match our dresses, and really expensive looking earrings and a bracelet that also matched.
