Madelyn's eyes are glued onto the TV screen as the news reporter explains the incident

"A major Seattle-area shooting ...We have reports that a gunman has opened fire on students and faculty"

Madelyn's looks around, Mark is comforting a crying Lexie, out of the corner of her eye she see's April who is also crying

"Again, that's at Pacific College. We now take you live to our on-scene reporter. Students and faculty are still in the building. I'm trying to get some answers, but what we know so far is that a gunman opened fire at Pacific College and that there are at least a dozen..."

This is going to be a long day

The doctors have gathered in the ambulance bay

Owen turns to his w fellow doctors "There are 15 ambulances on the way. Maybe more to come. First one is three minutes out"

"People ... People ... our own trauma is fresh, and we are going to have feelings today, and there is no shame in that. What I want to say is, what we went through six months ago, they are going through right now, which makes them our brothers and sisters ... which makes them fellow travelers, which makes them our own. So to the very best of our ability, we are gonna do our work first. And you're gonna have your feelings later" Richard says

Madelyn has her hand on Lexies shoulder as the girl tries to stop herself from crying

"Grey" Mark says turning around

"I'm fine. I'm fine" she tries to say

"Go to the pit, make sure we're stocked. Call the blood bank..."

"I'm fine" Lexie says through tears

"Call the blood bank. Tell them to give us all the O neg they have" Mark says, Lexie does as she's told and leaves

The first ambulance arrives

"I got a cop. Michael Fazioli. 28. G.S.W. to the right upper arm and left leg" the paramedic explains

"Okay, this one's mine. All right, I'm on that one. All right, Shepherd and Kepner, get him to trauma one. Do labs, trauma series, and X-ray this leg and arm" Richard says, both girls do as they're told

"Ah, he's got some blood in his chest, but the bullet's not there. It's not in his leg or in his arm. Kepner" Richard asks

"Um ... uh, we should put in a chest tube and get more studies to see what kind of damage we're dealing with"

Marty walks in "Is there any chance we can wake him up while we're waiting for the studies?"

Madelyn looks at the cop confused as to why he would want to wake the man

"We could reverse his pain meds, but it would be a pretty traumatic awakening. He'd be in a lot of pain" Richard replies
