"....April, you're getting married" Madelyn whispers just about loud enough for the redhead to hear
"Unless I'm not" the redhead replies
Before Madelyn can respond Lucy rushes over to her and wraps her arms around the brunette "I just heard. Are you okay?" she asks
Watching April leave the room Madelyn breathes out a simple "Yeah" as the blonde pulls back
"That was really stupid of you" she scolds "Don't ever do that again"
Unable to comprehend what just happened Madelyn diverts the conversation "What did you want to talk about earlier?" she asks
Lucy furrows her brows i'm confusion before remembering "Oh- we don't have to talk about that now" she says
"Actually, now might work best, it might help take my mind off the pain" Madelyn says
Lucy nods slowly "Okay. Um- well" she sighs "I have an opportunity to open my own bakery" she says softly
Madelyn smiles at the blonde "That amazing Lucy" she praises "Near here or-"
"-New York" the blonde interrupts
"Oh" Madelyn says
"I-I know it's a lot to ask but you-you have family over there-" Lucy says
"What? No, no I can't , I have a job here- my career is here-"
"I know, but you can find another job over there and we can-"
"No. I'm saying no" Madelyn says
Lucy sighs "Because of April" she says
"Wha-"
"I'm not stupid Maddy. I could tell from the wedding that there were still feelings there. And when you didn't say you loved me back I figured that even now you still feel that way towards her. You can't love me because you still love her. You know what. I knew the whole time, so I guess maybe I am stupid" Lucy says now tears running down her face
"Lucy-"
"I have to go" the blonde says ignoring the brunettes eyes and walking away
"Lucy" Madelyn calls after the blonde "Damn it" she whispers to herself

Next thing Madelyn knows she's being paged to a meeting in Meredith's room
"Trust you to go into labour in the middle of a storm" Madelyn says entering the woman's room
Meredith chuckles lightly "What happened to your arm?" the woman asks
"Oh, it's a long story" Madelyn replies
