The residents are all doing work at the nurses station when Meredith walks over and approaches Alex

"So they're probably going to fire me. Are you happy?"

This grabs the attention of everyone

"Oh, come on they're not gonna..."

"I want your crap out of my house by the end of the day" Meredith says walking away

"What the hell was that?" Cristina asks Alex but before he can answer everyone's pagers start going off , they all rush to the main lobby where Richard and Owen are waiting to give a speech

"A 757 went down in the sound. Are looking at about 200 injured passengers. We're the designated crisis centre. Families will be instructed to come here to find their loved ones. We are activating surge protocol. Dr. Hunt is going to be running the show. It's gonna be chaotic. You need to listen carefully, you need to stay focused, do not contribute to the panic. Get to your stations"

Madelyn and the group of residents follow Hunt and Bailey "Dr. Bailey, clear any beds that we can. Discharge or transfer" he says

Bailey takes Meredith away to help her

"Ok, Torres, you'll be with me along with Little Shepherd, Kepner, set up the ER for a triage. Other Grey, I want you running the family centre, take over in the cafeteria. Yang, blood bank"

"We might need a candyman" April suggests

"Dr. Sloan'll be our candyman" Owen says "Let's be liberal with pain meds for our victims and sedatives for patients that are moving. Avery, you can help him out. Let's move, people!"

It's been hours since the first announcement, hours and there's been nothing, no one's here, not a single patient, that's why Madelyn stands quietly in the ER while Arizona and Hunt listen to the news. April is tucked away in the corner working

Lexie enters and says "Still nobody? The families are going crazy. What is taking so long?"

"Fishing 200 people out of the water is slow business. You wanna play angry birds?" Mark replies, Madelyn has to stop herself from laughing at the grown man's words

Luckily Hunt answers Lexies question "They'll do triage at the waterfront. Takes time"

Lexie heads back to the cafeteria, Hunt speaks again "Actually, with it taking this long, there's gonna be a lot of hypothermia. Kepner!"

"Yeah, Warm blankets, heated lamps and heated IV fluids. Got it!" the redhead say's immediately on the move

"You post chief resident yet?" Mark asks

"No not yet." Hunt replies

"What's the hold up? They're all killing me with their competitiveness" Madelyn sighs
