"Almost there... oh!" Madelyn groans as she carries Erin up the status "You okay?" she asks

"Yeah" the kid replies

"Okay. Almost there" Madelyn says, at this point trying to convince herself to keep going "Okay. Almost... Almost there. Okay. Stand there. Good" she says putting Erin on the ground and moving to open the door leading onto the roof, the brunette reaches in her pocket for her key card " No.No! No! No! No!" she cries

"What?!" Erin asks

"No... My key card... I don't have my key card. I ca... I can't get out of here without the card" Madelyn sighs deeply "We can go down?" she suggest more so to herself than Erin "We can get through the fire. We can make it" she says looking down the stairwell  "Erin?" she turned  look at the young girl who hadn't said anything

"I don't feel good" Erin says weakly beginning to close her eyes

"Erin? Erin, no" Madelyn says ending down to help "Help us! Help!" she calls out desperately "Help us! Somebody help! Help! Help!" she cries her voice cracking each time

"Madelyn" Erin whisper

"Oh, my God. Erin. Wait. "No. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Don't... No, don't, don't... Erin!" she pleads but the girl only closes her eyes "Erin! No! Erin, don't! Hey, Erin, stay with me. Erin. No. Stay with me, okay?" she practically begs as she begins to perform CPR on the girl "Stay... Somebody help me! Somebody help me, please! Somebody help me!" she cries as a tears stream down her face

April rushes over to Bailey "No Kepner, no one has seen Shepherd. Yet" she adds "I told Minnick to tell the police that she was missing" she reminds the redhead

"Minnick!" April calls out "What did the cops say about Madelyn?"

The woman shuts her eyes in regret "Oh, my God. I forgot"

"You forgot?!" April exclaims "So no one's looking for her?"

"There were patients. I forgot" Minnick says

meanwhile...

"Help me! Please!" Madelyn pleads "Somebody help me! Stay with me. S-Stay with me. Erin? Oh my God" she says when she sees the girl weakly open her eyes

"Hi" Erin barely gets out

"Hi Sweetie, you're okay. It's okay" Madelyn says "Don't try and talk okay" she says earning a nod from Erin "No one's coming for us" she admits to the child "So we have to go to them. All I need from you, is trust. Do you trust me?" she asks

Erin slowly nods her head "Okay. I know the fire looks scary, but we gotta go through it. I want you to close your eyes until we're outside. Understand?" Madelyn asks

"Mhm" Erin hums in response

meanwhile...

"I don't know how things worked in the other hospitals you worked at but in this one we're a family, all of us. We look out for each other, we don't forget anyone" April fires at the now embarrassed brunette
