"You think he put you in his will?" Madelyn asks Meredith

"No" the blonde replies

"Next of kin. Maybe you get the house" Cristina says

"I have a house" Mer replies

"Well, you can give me his house. I mean, I could use a house" Cristina says

"He's not my father. I've been telling him this for years. He just feels guilty because he busted up my parents' marriage. That's not my problem" Mer says

"It is now" Alex comments

Mer sighs "Yeah, I mean, sticking me with his end of life care... doesn't ask, doesn't give me an out... That's real love"

Madelyn shrugs "Well, it sounds like family to me"

"Maybe he is your father. Banged your mom enough" Alex
teases "Did they know each other before you were born?"

"They met when I was 3" the blonde answers

Madelyn hums "Mm-hmm. Yeah. That's what they told you.I gotta get back to the E.R"

"Hey, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. You gotta drink the juice." Madelyn scolds the firefighter who tries to get up "You give us half your blood and head back to the pile, you're gonna pass out"

As Madelyn gets him to sit back down she looks up and sees a crying Jo walking towards her "Heather didn't make it" the intern whispers

Madelyn sighs "Come on" she says softly taking the girls hand and leading her into an empty room

After comforting Jo for a while Madelyn leaves her with Alex while she goes to find her brother

"Oh Derek" she says walking into Mer's room where the man stands by his wife's bed, she woke over to him and gives him a tight hug "I'm so sorry" she whispers

Madelyn heads into an on-call room hoping to have a quick nap only to realise someone had followed her into the room

"Can we talk" a nervous April asks

Madelyn sighs "I'm pretty tired" she says

"Please" April begs

Madelyn takes a seat on the bed "Yea, okay" she agrees

"What-what would you have said if Lucy hadn't walked into the room?" April asks

Madelyn sighs "I don't- I don't know. And I still don't, so please don't ask me again" she whispers
