Arc 2: Conquering Clouds

Chapter 81: First Match (Part 2)

In W City, Thunderclap Base, past 8:00 pm, A black haired handsome man was browsing the television with remote control. While switching channels on TV, he decided to stop on the local Esports Channel.

It is a local channel in their country dedicated to showing many Esport games on television. With Online games and Esports rising in recent years, it was natural to have a channel dedicated to games.

The Esports channel was a subsidiary channel for one of the most popular entertainment companies in the country. Among the games shown on the channel, Glory is the one that was shown the most. Glory is one of the most popular games in the country and it has a worldwide fan base.

Since its release to different parts of the world, Glory has become more popular in those countries. It was natural that there would be investors and sponsors in the game. Other countries have their own Esports channel too, and those channels have time dedicated to the pro scene of Glory.

Even though Glory was popular, there wasn't much viewership rating to be gained from Glory and the other Esports games on television. Unfortunately, at the end of the day, a game is still a game. Esports watching isn't for everyone. It has only a specific type of niche and group of Audience. Not everyone would be interested in watching games like the older generation of people.

And not every younger generation would be interested in games. Chasing stars, and idols and watching dramas was something the younger generation pay more attention to.

Today, the local Esports channel happened to be Challenger's League of Glory. The black-haired handsome man decided to watch the challenger's league. Since he was one of the pro players in glory pro alliance, it was natural for him to watch glory.

Most of the pro player wasn't even interested in watching the challenger's league. Most of the reason for the pro players for not watching the challenger's league was something like this...

The first came was that watching the challenger's league would be a waste of time. They could do something more productive like playing glory in the game or practicing for the pro league.

2nd reason wasn't there weren't any team participants that was worth paying attention to...

As for the 3rd... Jade dynasty.

Most of the time every 2 years, the Challenger's League always compose of the Jade Dynasty winning the Challenger's league every time that they were relegated.

The content was boring and predictable. And even the Jade Dynasty players were currently in the Pro League competition in Season 6 and were likely to get relegated at the end of the regular season, the players who would likely win one of the two relegated teams during season 5.

Most of the players in Glory mockingly called the Challenger's League the Relegated League. Because it was always the relegated teams that won the Challenger's League. There wasn't an instance where a total newbie team won in the Challenger's League once.

And even those who would enter the Pro Alliance when a former club disbanded, the Alliance would be the ones who would choose to enter a new team in the pro league.

Paying attention to the television, the commentator for the challenger's league offline match wasn't Pan Lin or Li Yibo.

If the person remembers, one of the commentators was the recent host for the All-star weekend that happened in B City and the Stadium that was rented by the Alliance. Ju Bao was the person's name. The other commentator was the female commentator Ling Niao. This one was one of her first few appearances on television. She has been recently hired by the Alliance in December.

Ling Niao was a somewhat famous person on the Internet. For some of the Weebs, Otakus, and game enthusiasts, even with her average appearance, she was considered to be one of their goddesses.

She wasn't pretty. But the thing that attracted most of the weeb, otaku, and game enthusiasts was that she was like them. And she was also known as a well-known anime, donghua, music, game reviewer, and critic online.

Her criticism and analysis regarding each of her topics in her posted videos were top-notch. And even those games that were released in their countries have left likes and comments of appreciation towards her very detailed analysis of each content that she posted online.

For 2 years esports games invited her to their side and start to become a commentator for their competitions. Unfortunately, they were mercilessly rejected. But during the last year of December, after continuous 2 years of rejection, Ling Niao finally decided to accept one of the suitors for the past few months which was Glory.

As for how did Glory manage to convince someone like her to become occasionally one of their guest commentator other than money? The Pro Alliance staff decided to show Ling Niao graphics or statistics of the percentage of Glory had a lot of pro players with beautiful faces than the other competitive games out there.

Once she have been shown some of the examples, she happily accepted the offer.

For this year's challenger's league which has a total amount of 12,666 players registered online, the Alliance decided to show the top 10 promising teams of the challenger's league on television.

Currently, on the top 10 board rankings are being shown right now, the first top 2 were the relegated teams during season 5 of the glory pro alliance regular season.

As for the top 3 that were shown in the leaderboard, it was a team that has been recently popular on the 8th server of Glory here in the country.

An infamous guild that consists of chaotic people, degenerates, and role players.

[ And now we have the team conquering clouds! ]

Ling Niao exclaimed happily. Hearing the name, Ju Bao chuckled.

[ ..a majestic and domineering name isn't it? ]

The screen then showed the chosen roosters for each conquering cloud and the opponent team while Ling Niao asked her fellow commentator.

[ The team that came from a guild of the 8th server...Just like most of the guild members... According to the rumors, the Guild Leader which was now the Captain of the team conquering clouds was a Chuunibyou. ]

If Zhang Yuan heard what Ju Bao said about him, he would spat out blood. But then if he learned that his team was being shown on television, he would panic. He was intending his team to become low profile. But his team right now was within the top 10 of the most promising teams in the Challenger's League.
