Arc 1: The Reincarnated Noob

Chapter 3: Beginner's Journey

      My sister isn't really exaggerating. Glory is really a very popular game. After creating my character, the monitor then showed the epic movie scene like cutscene lore of Glory. It look like a blockbuster. The cutscene showed a very epic and historical fight within the important figures of Glory. Not the players but the important NPCs of the game. After the introducing cutscene, I got my character respawned in one of the beginner villages and I encountered a very obvious problem. Glory was certainly popular, just like what my sister said.

Just for the first quest that I need to do, I am already encountering a difficulty.

{ What the heck?! I have decided to play the day after the launch of the new server... It was still like this!! }

{ Hey, could you let me pass? }

{ Huh? Of course not! I am lining up here and waiting. I can't let you cut the line! }

{ Why was the new servers was like this? }

{ New server, new materials to loot! Hahahahaha here I come! }

{ So noisy... }

{ When will this end? }

I can hear various murmurs and complaints across the headphone. It also amazing to note that the sound of their voices depends on their distance from my character. They really implemented the game to become real life as possible. That's why there was also no glitch and the system wouldn't allow us to pass through the other players bodies so we could just take our first quest instead of waiting and lining up for it for minutes.

I wonder if the other beginner villages has also have this problem?

Finally, after feeling bored and being tempted to go back to sleep, it was finally my character's turn to take the quest.

« Welcome to the Harvest Village, Adventurer. Your journey begins here. But first, just like the other aspiring adventurers who wish to bring forth Glory– The path on becoming a Hero starts with a first few steps. A necessary one if you will. »

There was nothing special on NPC giver. He looks like your average muscled uncle in those fantasy games or novels. Just an average guy from my observation.

" Jun Feng, what are you doing? "

My sister asked as I was still observing the first quest giver. Beside my character, I can hear the other players complaining.

" Trying to look if there was something special with the NPC. "

" Silly, there's no hidden quest or secret identity like that. Someone have tried that before, nothing happened. "

Reluctantly, I accepted the quest after that and my sister also starting to feel angry when I said that the players behind my character started saying bad words.

For my first quest, I needed to hunt for 5 white horned rabbits. But before that, I think I have forgotten something.

" Jun Feng, did you have already allocated your free 10 stat and skill points? "

My sister asked as I controlled my character who was leaving outside the village while he was dressed in a fashion state that was called "rag and dirty outfit". Just like my character, the newbie players was just like me. I shook my head at my sister's questions and she sighed.

" Thanks. "

I nearly forgotten them.

" You should buy a weapon with your free 20 copper. "

" Got it. "

My character went back to the village and look for the Shop owner/Merchant NPC.

" You have forgotten didn't you? "

I didn't answered my sister's question as she sighed. A few moments later, my character has found a weapon shop. I got a simple stick staff for 5 coppers and it has an attack worth of 6 HP. I have distributed my 10 free stats with the 8 mostly in Intelligence and 2 in Vitality. I decided to not place anything in Strength and Spirit for a while. Unlike in the past games in my life, the stats wasn't a full indicative of what should be added if you are in that class. In this game, Strength meant for Physical attacks, defense and inventory weight. Intelligence for Magical attack, magic defense and Mana. Vitality in health and stamina while spirit affects Status resistance. In one of the games during the past life, I tried to put my stats on a balance scale. It ended in a bad result. It was like an accurate description of Jack of all trades, Master of none.

" Jun Feng, are you really fine with your decision? "

I nodded my head at my sister's question. Since I decided on what class should I take, I should try to invest on them as soon as possible. I wasn't also very worried much if I found some of my stats lacking in certain areas since I heard that there are certain equipments that can help to raise your stats. As for my skill points, I look at the skills and I decided that I would just use some of my skill points in climb. Since this game tried to be as real as possible,(the graphics are really amazing) I would invest in some of the useful skills. I can use the climb skill to go in some of the unusual areas in the game.

" Jun Feng, you didn't invest in any useful battle skills. "

My sister said staring worriedly at my character who was now leaving the village.

« Hunt 5 white horned rabbit 0/5 »

Eventually, I came across the grassy field where there is the other newbie players also doing their quest. I decided to move my character far away from the other players. It is better to be cautious. There may be some nasty players out there who was waiting to PK some oblivious newbies. I wasn't gonna let them take advantage of me!

" Ughh... Jun Feng you're smile is not adorable~ "

My Sister complained beside me as she watched my character.

" Anyway, Sister... "

" Hmm? What is it little brother? "

" Aren't your 1st subject scheduled at 7:00 am today? "

" ...Uhhh, what time is it now? "

" It's already 5:00. "

" There's still time. "

" Well...I heard from the news yesterday that there would be a heavy traffic today. "

" What?! Then– Ah, crap!"

" Language, Sister. "

" I still haven't gotten time to eat a breakfast and bath! "

" Then you better hurry up. "

" Right! I gotta go now Jun Feng! I have already taught you the basics– Good luck! "

I watched my sister dash out of my room while feeling amuse. I stretched my little hand and look at the monitor and I felt my amusement disappeared.

« You died. »

What the heck?! It's just a level 1 white horned rabbit. A level 1 RABBIT!!

« Respawn to the Harvest
Village? »

« Yes »     « No »

I clicked the yes option. Sigh, I haven't just stared at the monitor for a moment, and my character died.

Looks like this game wouldn't be so easy as I thought.
