Her daughter, Natalie.
She became a mom at 15. Unfortunately, the father of her child bailed on her the moment he found out she was pregnant. And even though she lost a lot along the way, including her parents' love, she wouldn't trade her little girl for anything. She would give up anything to protect her daughter. As cheesy as it sounded, Natalie was her best friend.
Savannah struggled a lot raising Natalie, but she managed to get herself through high school, college and med school with the help of her childhood best friend, Jackson Avery, and his mother, Catherine.
Savannah was thankful for the Avery family. Catherine loved Savannah like the daughter she never had, and she loved Natalie like the granddaughter she always wanted. And Jackson, he always went out of his way to make sure Natalie was loved and taken care of. Seeing Jackson be so involved in her daughter's life made her so happy. She never expected anything from Jackson, but she appreciated how much he loved Natalie.
Natalie loved having Jackson around. He cared about her mother, and she loved how involved he became in her life. She trusted him with her life. She always went to him for advice and he knew most of her secrets. She never considered Jackson her father, but considering the fact that her real father bailed when Savannah got pregnant with her, she loved him enough to find that kind of comfort in him.
In order for a fresh start, Savannah and Natalie moved with Jackson to Seattle, and the two best friends started working together at Mercy West Hospital. That was the start of something amazing.
