I'm standing next to Meredith and Maggie on the mezzanine drinking coffee.

Maggie: so, he's just back?

Meredith: mm.

Maggie: for good?

Meredith: yeah.

Maggie: okay, that face you're making– I don't know you well enough to know what that means.

Savannah: she's happy.

Meredith: you know those very happy, cheerful people who have everything and when the fact that they have everything comes up, they act very humble and they say, "I'm just so blessed.". Those people– you want to punch those people in the face.

Maggie: yes. I do know those people.

I notice Maggie staring right at me.

Savannah: hey, leave me alone. I went through hell to find that happiness. I deserve it.

Meredith: yeah, I'm one of those people now.

Maggie: okay?

Meredith: this morning, I was standing on my porch of my perfect house looking in the window at my amazing, perfect children and my amazing, gorgeous husband, on the way to my amazing job. And I thought to myself, "I have everything I've ever wanted. I am just so blessed.".

Savannah: I totally get that. This morning, I woke up to Jackson's arms around me like every morning, then he made me breakfast and told me how much he loves me. Then he got Cathy ready for the day and I got to kiss my beautiful little girl while I was on call with my gorgeous college girl.

Maggie looks in between Mer and I.

Maggie: I really want to pummel both of your faces in right now.

Mer and I share a chuckle.

Meredith: right, I would beat myself up. Except I'm too tired from—

Savannah: please don't say that you're so exhausted from all the great sex you're having. That's my pseudo-brother you're talking about, and I don't need that image.

Meredith: says the woman having sex with Jackson three to four times a week.

I glare at Meredith.

Savannah: I'm gonna go find Amelia.

I walk off to meet with Amelia to talk to the school kids that are coming for a class trip. I find her in the lobby as the school kids come up.

Savannah: hi, guys! My name is Dr. Savannah Avery-Collins, and this is Dr. Amelia Shepherd.

Amy: I am the head of the department of neurosurgery, with Dr. Collins here as my partner, and that means we operate on... brains.

Class: cool!

Amy: it's very cool, actually, because we fix the big, squishy, slimy computer that runs your whole body. If the brain goes, everything goes.

Derek: it is the coolest.

I turn to my left side and I see Derek standing next to me. This is the first time I've seen him since his return to Seattle. Part of me is happy to see him, but the other part of me feels awkward with everything going on with Meredith.

Webber: and, uh, this is Dr. Derek Shepherd, and he's a member of our board, and, um...

Derek: I'm her brother. And Dr. Collins is my mentee. I'm also a neurosurgeon. I work for them.

Kid: your sister and mentee are your bosses?

I try to stifle my laugh.

Derek: my sister and mentee are my bosses.
