Jackson and I are walking through the halls of the hospital talking about our baby.

Jackson: how's your morning sickness?

Savannah: still bad, considering I'm still fairly early into my pregnancy.

Jackson: have you told anyone yet?

Savannah: I think I might tell Jeremy and April. I mean, things have been very rocky lately since Jeremy gave April the ultimatum about going to Jordan. They deserve some happy news.

Jackson: that's true.

We make our way into the ER. I grab a chart and check on some patients.

Jackson: you're late.

I see Wilson walk into the ER.

Wilson: I know. I'm sorry. I got stuck behind a train that just stopped forever. I mean...

Ben: I'm sorry. You s– you said a crash?

Wilson: but they shouldn't be allowed to do that, right? Just stop on the tracks?

Jackson: I really don't care, okay? You missed rounds.

Ben: a pedestrian? T-two pedestrians? Two pedestrians were hit by a train?

Everyone's attention draws over to Ben.

Wilson: what?

Savannah: oh my god.

Owen: and they're alive?

Ben: yeah, uh... two girls were hit by a train on their way to school. Kids. Um... they're just kids.

I let out a shaky breath. Once we got word that the girls were close, we grab our trauma gowns and meet the ambulances in the ambulance bay. I meet with the first ambulance that pulls up.

Nicole: Jessica Tanner, 15 years old. Moving train swiped her, then tossed her down the embankment. GCS is 15. Pressure's 100 palp. Right side took all the brunt. One big bruise.

Jessica: there's a shortcut to– to school. I-I take it every day over... the tracks.

Savannah: she's tachy at 120.

Callie: alright, I'm gonna need a Doppler to check these extremities for pulses.

Jessica: I-I-I tripped. You know, my foot– it got stuck in between the tracks.

Savannah: shh, shh, shh. Try to stay calm, Jess.

I notice a heart drawn on her wrist.

Jessica: have you seen the other girl? She... she just showed up out of nowhere. She– she tried to push me out of the way.

Intern: uh, uh, uh, somebody?! I'm not sure what to do here!

I move towards the other girl and I notice that the leg is backwards.

Savannah: go help the other patient inside. Go. Torres. Take a look at this. Let's get her inside.

We run into the ER and get the two girls set up in separate trauma rooms.

Owen: hang two units of O-neg, check the pelvic binder, and prep her for a rapid-sequence intubation.

Callie: any word on her name? Her parents?

Intern: uh, I don't think she had any ID.

Savannah: did you look? Did you check her bag?

Meredith: okay, where do you need me?

Savannah: she needs an ex-lap. One of her legs is ripped completely away from the other.

Callie: she has a wishbone injury. The force of the train broke her pelvis and split her insides apart. I'm gonna need to stabilize her pelvis and extremities, but not before you guys address her internal injuries.
