Away in Dreamland (Kirby fanfiction)

"I wonder, what's beyond the horizon?"

Waking up, (Y/n) opened their eyes and exhaustedly crawled out of their tent. Bleary-eyed, they raised a clenched fist and rubbed their eyes tenderly, trying to clear their vision.
What time was it...maybe I'm lucky enough and it's real early so I can get some more rest..
(Y/n) thought hopefully to themself. When they visited the campfire, they saw two other figures.
"No one is around to see, right?" Meta Knight questioned, a more timid tone present in his voice.
"Nobody is awake, so nobody will see us." Galacta Knight reassured.
At that moment, (Y/n) thought they were going to make out and get freaky or something, but no.
Both Knights embraced eachother warmly, pulling one another into a nice hug.
"Aww.." (Y/n) said, absolutely adoring the sight they saw.
Before long, they pulled away from the cuddle to (Y/n)'s dismay.
"I'll get to making breakfast, Metty." Galacta Knight told him, with a smile. Coming out from the tree they'd hid in, (Y/n) approached the lovers just as Galacta Knight gave Meta Knight a kiss on his forehead.
"Good morning love birds." (Y/n) teased.
Going bashful, Meta Knight hastily put his mask on to strike a more intimidating tone on his appearance. "Good morning, (Y/n)." He greeted, in a haste.
"Morning!~" Galacta Knight cheerfully saluted.
"So, what's going on over here?" (Y/n) asked them, with a smug look on their face.
Snickering, Galacta Knight glanced over at Meta Knight. Unamused, Meta Knight stared at Galacta Knight, making it obvious he was a bit pissed off.
Bursting into a fit of laughter, Galacta Knight broke the silence. "What's so funny? Is it because I saw you kiss him or something?" (Y/n) said, ratting themself out.
With a look of horror, Meta Knight looked (Y/n) dead in the eyes and asked them to repeat what they'd said.
"I saw you kiss...?" (Y/n) confusedly repeated.
"You won't tell anyone, right?" He embarrassedly requested.
"Uh, kissing is normal for couples as long as you aren't getting too carried away."  They informed him.
"I know that, but my reputation could be ruined if people hear about it." He told them.
Giving him a rather confused glance, (Y/n) wondered how having a relationship could ruin a reputation. Then, they realized how it could.
"Hey, the food is ready." Galacta Knight shouted over to them.
Tucking into the freshly cooked food, (Y/n) savoured the flavour of it. How nice it tasted! The flavouring of it completely blew (Y/n) away; never had they tasted such flavourful cuisine.
"Thanks for this, Galacta Knight." Meta Knight graciously thanked, wrapping an arm around his lover. Beaming with pride, Galacta Knight felt his face heat up with colour.
"Aww, you're welcome." He answered.

The three were deep in conversation until the others woke up. When the first person made their way out the tent, the lovers stopped acting so close. Eventually, everyone was awake and were uplifted by the announcement Becca had. "Well, seeing as today we have to fight, I believe only half of us will need to go. The other half can stay here until we're finished." She announced.

It was obvious who was going to be abandoned at the camp. The team that needed to go was supposed to be strong, fierce and reckless. So, they decided the Knight Bois (accompanied by Kirby, (Y/n) and Dedede) would go and fight Hyness.

"We're going to scout the area for remaining Jamba Heart pieces, so try your heartest!" Maddie joked.
Becca burst into an uproar of laughter. "Good one sis!" She laughed, tears falling from her eyes.
"We've given you the directions. So, Meta Knight will lead the group and you will do as he says, capishe?" Becca ordered.
"Capishe!" (Y/n) and Kirby both cheered, brimming with excitement.
Saluting Meta Knight, she gave him an assured look. "I know you'll make us proud, darling." Becca smirked, waving her goodbyes to the departing group.

And so our heroes venture forth, heading towards the Jambastion Fortress. Meanwhile...

Hyness stood in the centre of the desaturated room, waving his arms around in the air as shards of the Jamba Heart crushed themselves together. Muttering to himself, he chanted strings of words as a weak source of entertainment. Juh! When will the Mages be back with an update for me? He thought to himself, angrily.
Just as the thought entered his mind, Zan Partizanne hovered into the room and towards her master. "Lord Hyness, some meddlesome travelers wish to interfere with our plans. All three of us have tried to put an end to their intervening yet failed. They are making their way to the main fortress now, armed and ready to storm us!" A distressed Zan waring warned.
Just as he turned around, the door burst open to reveal the intervening warriors.
"Juh!" Hyness gasped, alarmed.
Upon their entrance, Zan produced her Partizan and lunged at them, only to be beaten at her own game. The element of surprise didn't work in her favour as she wished it to. Laid on the floor, she tried to regain her energy to put up another fight. Stepping forward bravely, Meta Knight made it blatantly obvious why he was there: to destroy the jamba heart. Tranquilly, Hyness slowly floated forwards until he reached a stalemate. "You..you appear to be in my way.." he whispered to the unconscious Zan Partizanne. Carelessly, he threw her body aside to go and greet the intruders.
The more he spoke, the louder he got until he was shouting pure babble.
"Fight me, coward." Meta Knight challenged.

Hyness accepted his offer as he summoned all three mages to his aid.

Back with the others..

Sighing, Bandana Waddle Dee gazed up at the clouds. "Why did you bring us along if you knew they'd defeat them anyway?" He questioned, feeling worthless due to his lack of action.
