Astro

"Well, do you want a full backstory?" Astro asked them, getting a series of nods.

"Okay then..."

Younger Astro was nothing like how Astro was now; she was open and immature. Most of her days were spent helping her parents around the house.

That was until the great war with NME started.

Her father went to war. To say he wasn't the same when he returned was accurate. He always looked so depressed and barely said anything. He'd pass when it came to eating and most nights he didn't sleep.

The cries of the battlefield haunted him.

They haunted him so much that he took his life.

Not only his life, but his wife's life as well. It was a murder suicide.

Little Astro was left to fend for herself, in the cruel world she lived in. However, she didn't want to be associated with her father so she took on an entirely new identity.

Masking her face, she claimed she was a different person. She kept her first name, changing it slightly, and added "Knight" to the end. To prevent others from recognising her, she put a voice changer in her mask and was referred to as a Sir.

She fled her home planet, in search of doing good in the world. Astro refused to be what her father had become, a monster. For years, she lived in a small village on a dwarf planet, fending off any monsters NME sent. The locals were protected with her around.

However, one day NME sent a shape shifter that took on her form and destroyed the village. It hurt her to know that the locals believed that she was in fact a monster.

Astro left the village and the planet. From then on, she wandered through the galaxy to help those in need. She refused to get close to anyone, in fear of NME ruining it again.

Her life was a misery.

Yes, it was nice helping strangers, but they stayed just that. Just strangers.

As much as she wanted to get close to them, her mindset refused her the right to.

She'd seen many beautiful planets and met such lovely people. That was what she liked about her job, the things she saw, the new foods she tried, the places she went and the people she met.

Some missions were better than others, she had that to admit. Halcandra was a mildly unpleasant place to go due to its intense heat. Fighting there was almost like a death wish.

It has been many years of wandering the galaxy and she realized that the only planet she hadn't visited was Popstar. Every time there was an issue, it would be solved sooner or later.

That was until one day.

Sectonia had caught the hero of the land, meaning that the world was in peril until someone did something.

Astro saw it as her opportunity to finally do some good on Popstar.

And so, she saved the planet.

Astro never intended on staying, though. She was reluctant to leave after seeing how pleasant the planet was. And, that's where we are now.

(Y/n) was the first to say something,"Your parents are both..dead?"

Astro gave a timid nod.

They couldn't help but feel a sense of pity towards her. There wasn't anything they could do about it, it was a part of the past now.

Astro seemed to brighten up much faster than they expected her to after speaking of such a sensitive topic.

She gave a suggestion of something to do,"There's a kitchen in castle Dedede, right? I could make us something nice to eat."

"Wait, you can cook?" Kirby inquired.
"Well, yeah. Most of us female puffballs were more of a housewife. Typical. We were stay-at-home and loyal to our husbands. I never got married because my parents both died but I still have the life skills my parents taught me. My dad taught me self defense and my mum taught me how to bake, cook, read, write and clean." She told them.

"Stay-at-home? What's that supposed to mean?" Kirby questioned again.

Astro gave a little giggle,"Females weren't allowed to fight. We had to look after where we lived and wait for our husbands to come home if we ever got married. It's normal for us to get married at a much younger age. Our father was the most important man in this decision, if he didn't like the groom then it was a no go. Y'know, kinda like how it used to work on Earth but not quite."

As they were speaking, Dark Meta Knight and Morpho Knight approached them. "Yo, what's going on?" DMK asked.

She immediately threw her mask on again.

Morpho was the first to realize the newbie out of the two. She introduced herself to them at once.

To them, she was still a male. Astro didn't want to hastily rush into her personal life with complete strangers. It was a different matter with the others; she had acquainted herself with them.

That made her wonder if she should stay or not. With her newfound friends, she felt much happier.

Astro had never had a friend before, now she had them she didn't want to leave them.

Bandana Waddle Dee poked the now zoned out Astro,  startling her.

"You alright? You zoned out for a bit there.." he told her.
"Yeah, yeah fine thanks." She hastily replied,"Let's get heading to the castle then and we can start baking."
