"The same, Mrs. May?"
"Umm, gin and seven, lots of limes. Cassie?"
"I'll have the same, thank you."
Elaine looked up and smiled at the waiter. He took her glass and the one Cassie handed him.
She turned to Cassie then and added: "Amazing, isn't it?" Elaine's husband Steve, was lighting Paula's cigarette.
"Something like that," Cassie said. "You suppose she's still in mourning?"
"I don't know about her, but I sure as hell am."
Cassie laughed. Paula had always attracted men, but since her husband had died recently, every male at the club was knocking himself out trying to console her. While they may have been attracted before, the married men had - by and large - kept their priorities straight.
Now it seemed they had an excuse to buzz around her with the rest of the male entourage.
"You didn't bring your suit either, I notice," Cassie remarked.
"I can't compete with that," Elaine said, chagrined and nodding towards Paula. "Besides, you know me and water."
"The club offers lessons, Elaine."
"Yes, I know, but I'm strictly a land mammal, kid."
