"Mmm," Elaine said. "It must be your favorite color."

"Yes. I just made tea - want some?"

"Sure," Elaine said.

"Any particular kind? I've got almost everything."

"No, whatever you're having is fine."

Paula went to the kitchen and Elaine got up and strolled around the living room, taking in the view from the French doors. Paula had a lovely rose garden, the yard was full of them and they were pleasantly situated. There was a pool and from where Elaine stood it looked a bit larger than a standard size.

She turned and focused on the fireplace, admiring the workmanship of the mason that had built it. This was no pre-fab, Elaine thought, looking at the photos atop the walnut mantle.

She picked up a photo of the two children. They were cute kids, twins. They looked like their mother, well one of them at any rate. The other one looked like - Elaine drew in her breath and held it for a minute ... the other twin looked just like the picture in the newspaper of Cassie when she was a young girl.

Chills arose at the back Elaine's neck.
