Cassie sat down in the lawn chair and began shivering wildly. Elaine didn't want to say much because of Billy.

"I think she's sick, Tom."

"She's been under a lot of stress lately," he said, kneeling in front of his wife.

Elaine just nodded.

Billy returned and handed both women towels. He looked over at his Mom who appeared to be crying. "What's wrong, Mom?"

"Nothing, Honey, I'll be all right. Why don't you go over to Mike's," she said in a whisper, biting her lower lip.

"No, you're sick," he said.

"I'll get better," she said. "You go on to, Mike's, please."

Billy was conflicted, he didn't want to leave his mother.

But as Cassie began sobbing quietly then began rocking herself in the lawn chair, Tom said:

"Do what your mother told you, Bill. She'll be all right, I promise."

He ushered Billy into the house and quickly out the front door with a promise to call him as soon as they returned from the doctor.
