You sighed as you rubbed your fourteen year old's back.  It suddenly arched and you whispered softly into his ear  as he released the contents of his stomach into the toilet for the fifth time in the past hour and a half. You had woken to the sound of vomit hitting the tiles at three pm and had rushed into the kitchen to see your oldest, Jackson, throwing up all over the place. Your guess was that he had caught some stomach flu, his temperature was high also.

Although feeling bad for your son, you were secretly glad that it was him who'd come down with something, rather than his younger sister Mara. She was a total nightmare when she was unwell.

So far, Harry hadn't even twitched from his side of the bed and you didn't want to wake him up because he had work in the morning. You and Jackson would be fine for the time being.

"I think I'm done Mum," Jackson told you, leaning back against the counter as he got his breath back. His arms remained tightly wrapped around his mid-section.

"Okay Hun, do you wanna go to your room or the couch?" You asked as you helped him get to his feet, careful not to move too quickly.

"Couch is closer," he muttered and let you lead his weak form into the living room where he laid down on the longest of the grey couches. You grabbed a couple of blankets off the shelf and tossed them over him, hoping to quell the shivering that was racking through his body, and then retrieved the bucket from the cupboard. By the time you returned, Jackson had cocooned himself up and seemed to have calmed down considerably. Definitely the easier child.

You went to lie down on the other couch so you could watch over Jackson but he spoke up in his gruff voice, "Mum, I'm alright, go back to bed. These couches aren't comfy at all."

Your heart swelled with pride at his politeness. You must've done something right. However he was still mightily pale and you weren't sure if you felt comfortable leaving him there on his own.  "Are you sure? I really don't mind staying out here with you."

"I'm sure." He gave you a ghostly, reassuring smile.

An uncertain sigh left your lips but the thought of your nice warm bed, with it's brand new mattress was very persuading. Plus, Jackson was 14 years old and mature for his age. You definitely didn't mind looking after him but you knew that if he did throw up again he would be fine by himself.

"Okay, Bud. I'll see you in the morning. Try and get some sleep."

You chuckled at the sight that greeted you when you got back to your bedroom. Harry had snatched all the sheets and blankets, leaving your side completely bare. You got into bed next to him and snuggled into his warm back, pulling some excess blanket over you. He was a little hot to the touch but you thought nothing of it, Harry had always been a hot sleeper.

When you walked into the living room at 6:30 the next morning you hadn't expected to see  Jackson leaning over the bucket, puking his guts up yet again. His retching was surprisingly quiet.

You rushed to his side and pulled his hair away from his face as he expelled more of yesterday's dinner.

"Ew!" Mara's high pitched voice echoed throughout the house and you turned to see her standing there with a half disgusted half worried look on her round little face. Jackson heaved again and you rubbed his back soothingly.

"Go wait in the kitchen Darling, Jackson's not feeling too well at the moment. I'll be there in a minute to make you breakfast."

You tried to smile at her through the stench of vomit.
