Being on the bus always set a kind of internal alarm inside of my head and every morning I woke up at the butt crack of dawn to stare at the ceiling while I waited and listened for any type of movement that meant someone else was finally awake. Trying to get back to sleep was impossible and if I'd only tried waking someone else up to boredom once, and never again. I preferred not having to explain that I'd gotten my black eye from the flailing limbs of Liam Payne in the early hours of the morning.

I picked up my phone to check the time again. Six thirty, and still not a trace of movement at all. Even my social media was silent for once. I kicked my legs out straight and rolled over onto my side, peeking through the minuscule crack in my curtains.
It was starting to get brighter, which meant that Liam would be waking soon. I just had to wait the morning out on my lonesome until then.
Maybe I should just get up now. Have something to eat, watch something on the TV. The only worry with that plan was that if I made too much noise and woke Harry he wouldn't be impressed. He usually slept the latest our of the four us, and I'd say he needed it. Whenever we had to get up earlier for some reason or another he was always cranky and brooding.

I started getting pains in my legs from laying there too long and decided that I was just going to have to risk it. As quietly as I could I manoeuvred my way out of my bunk and shook my sheet off my legs before I could trip on it. Then I headed out for the other room, stomach rumbling hungrily.

Grabbing a banana for minimal noise I plopped onto the couch along the window and lifted the blind to watch the scene fly by.  It was one of those days where it wasn't raining, but it wasn't sunny either. There was just endless white cloud that hung over everything like a thick blanket.

Hearing footsteps I dropped the blind and looked to entrance. I'd expected Liam, but instead Niall walked in, squinting and hugging his arms around himself. He didn't even seem to notice me, going to straight over to the cupboards without saying a single word.
"Isn't it a little early for you Ni?" I said unsurely, sitting more upright.

He spun around with a shocked sound and dropped a box onto the floor just as the bus rounded a corner, causing it to skid across the floor to sit beside my feet. "Pain killers?" I read, picking up the box.

"Lou, didn't even see you there," Niall stuttered.
"Mate, your voice." My eyes widened. Niall's welled up as if he was about to cry and I slowly stood up, "you good?"
"Yeah," Niall replied shakily, wiping at his face, "just watery."

"You're not feeling well?" I asked. I took a sheet of pills from the box and popped a couple out for him, placing them beside the bottle of water he'd taken from the fridge.
"No," Niall rasped, leaning on the wall as he took the two pills along with a cold and flu capsule he'd found, "head's killin', throat's killin'."

"I think you have a fever too," I sighed, my fingers moving over his skin gently. Niall cleared his throat and whimpered, dropping his head into his hands, "I'm gonna go back to bed I think."

Although sad to be left on my own again I knew that bed was definitely where he needed to be so I ushered him back to his bunk and closed the curtains for him just in time for Liam to poke his head out sleepily, "what's going on?"

"Niall's sick or something," I whispered back.
Liam gave a sympathetic look to Niall's closed curtains, "poor lad."
I nodded, listening to Niall's blankets as he rustled about.

"You getting up?"
"I guess," Liam replied, swinging his legs out.
Harry moaned as Liam pushed the curtains back noisily. Liam and I both went still. We'd shaken the kraken, but hopefully he wouldn't wake.
"Oops," Liam murmured once it seemed safe. I pulled him out of his bunk and away from Harry so we could communicate with tout faring for our lives.
