Louis only very occasionally got carsick. Maybe once in every hundred trips. He thought he was going to be fine when his beautiful wife Amelia told him they were traveling up to see her parents with the kids as he hadn't experienced even a touch of carsickness in years.

Now as he drove down the highway he was doubting himself. His stomach was beginning to protest despite the fact that he was staring straight out the window and he found that he couldn't blame it on nerves any longer.

"Tyler pulled my hair!" Louis' youngest daughter, Laney shrieked loudly. It made Louis' head throb and he blinked a few times, holding his breath for a second as the spike of pain ebbed away.

"Did not!" Tyler yelled just as loudly. Amelia turned around to calm the kids, putting on the angry face she hated so much. She looked to Louis' oldest, Arin for answers. The sixteen year old had been sat between the twins so that the couldn't annoy each other, plus the fact that their car seats didn't fit in the middle seat.

Arin held her hands up innocently, "I didn't see anything."

"Laney, go back to your book and Tyler please just leave your sister alone," Amelia pleaded, not wanting the two of them fighting for the rest of the way. It wasn't exactly a short trip, they still had three hours ahead of them.

"But I didn't do anything Mummy, she lied!" Tyler pouted.
"It's alright Bud, let's just forget about it."
She twisted back around in her seat, pulling a face of tiredness at her husband. Louis forced a smile as the swirling in his gut intensified. Amelia didn't seem to notice anything and went back to humming with the radio, tapping her hand on her knee to the steady beat.

Louis desperately struggled to seem okay, the last thing he wanted was for Amelia to have to drive. She didn't like driving in traffic and they were on a highway, he would be worried if there wasn't any traffic.

Twenty minutes later he was struggling to keep down his breakfast and the constant bickering in the back seat wasn't helping his situation. He inhaled deeply and tightened his grip on the wheel.

"Are you alright Hun, you're looking a bit pale," Amelia questioned, looking over at him from the passenger seat.

"Uh, I'm fine," Louis replied quickly, trying to appear casual. He didn't take his eyes off the road.

"Are you sure? You're feeling alright?" She quizzed, placing a warm hand on his arm affectionately.

"Yeah, I'm all good." Louis nodded slightly, wincing at the movement as he pulled into a faster moving lane.

She squeezed his arm, eyes wide and soft, "just be sure to tell me if anything's wrong Lou."

"Uh huh." Louis nodded again, not trusting his mouth. The pounding in his head was continuous now, pressing against his skull as if his brain was doing jump rope. Amelia didn't seem to convinced by his answers and Louis could feel her eyes on him as he drove.

"Daddy, I need to go toilet!" Tyler whined, poking Louis' neck with a small finger.

"Me too!" Laney stuck a hand up in the air, a big grin on her face.

Amelia groaned. "We'll take the next exit and stop for a break," she decided. Louis did as she said, glad that he would be able to get out of the car. It wouldn't be for long, but it was better than nothing.

He pulled into a small cafe and parked the car next to the entrance. "You take Tyler, Lou, and I'll take Lane, do you need to go too Arin?" Amelia asked.

"I suppose." Arin shrugged, trailing after her mum and sister. Tyler slipped his hand into Louis' sweaty one and smiled up at him toothily. "Let's go Daddy, I think I'm gonna burst!" He exclaimed, making Louis smile despite the war raging inside him.
