I was sitting in maths when the sick feeling first hit me. It was more just a sense of discomfort that made me squirm in an attempt to make it go away. I stared down at my stomach, wondering what was going on.
I sighed and decided to just ignore it for now. It was hardly noticeable anyway, I'd survive.

Maths felt super long, but then again, last period always drags on forever. By the time the bell finally went I was almost falling asleep on the desktop. Georgia was beside me, literally poking me every now and then to keep me awake. I stuffed my bag and zipped it up, standing as I swung it carelessly over my shoulder.

"Bye J!" Georgia waved before she disappeared in the swarm of people leaving the classroom. She was always in a rush on Wednesdays because she had track after school. I hung back, not in the mood to push through everyone. It meant I was one of the last to leave but I didn't really mind.

I caught myself rubbing my stomach unconsciously as I walked out the school gates. I huffed and dropped my hand back to my side. It was nothing to fuss over, I'd get home, take a dump, and I'd be fine.

I zoned out and accidentally took the long route home, the way I went when I had to pick Mara up on the way. Today wasn't one of those days, which I realised when I came to a stop in front of the empty primary school. Dad had picked her up already. Usually picking Mara up from school was Mum's job but she was away this week for work. I didn't ask too many questions, all I knew was that it was a 'really good opportunity.'

I grumbled at myself and swore as I carried on. I absolutely hated this way. There were so many hills and I was already tired.

When I finally got home I felt dead on my feet and didn't even bother to stop for a snack before tramping up to my room and throwing myself onto my bed for an afternoon nap. It wasn't routine for me or anything but there were just those days when I needed to just shut my eyes for an hour or so before dinner.

I curled in on my strangely uneasy stomach and hugged a pillow tight to my chest as my breathing slowed.

I must've fallen asleep reasonably quickly because I couldn't even remember rolling over. I woke to Dad shaking my shoulder and saying something about dinner. I yawned and nodded, sitting up and running my hands through my newly knotted hair.

Dad seemed happy enough that I was getting up and left the room just as my phone buzzed from inside my pocket. I wearily dug it out and opened the message from Kade.

'Meet in the park and go thru some training b4 the big game?'

I sighed and hovered my fingertips over the keys hesitantly. Extra training would be a great help, but I wasn't really feeling it. I had a championships football game on Friday and we were playing for the title, I probably needed all the practice I could get.

'Having dinner, sorry can't' I text Kade back. It was true, I just had to hope he didn't suggest another time. I loved football, I don't even know why I didn't want to go. I guess I was just too tired. Even after my nana nap I still felt like sleeping more.

'excuses excuses, alright man, training after school 2moro anyway right?'

'yeah' I messaged him back simply and chucked my phone back onto my mattress. I yawned into the back of my hand and made my way to the table.

I had forgotten about my dodgy stomach until I walked in on the smell. It wasn't a bad smell, Dad had always been a pretty decent cook, but for whatever the reason it seemed to be messing with me a little. I swallowed and took my seat.

"You like nachos right Jack?" Dad raised and eyebrow at me quizzically. I relaxed my face, realising that I was grimacing slightly. "Yeah, I like anything."
