Alexis'  POV

“... the road is going to get tough sometimes. And you'll feel like dying. But know that the pain you felt will not be remembered when you two end up together again...”.

“It will always be fine… no matter how long it takes...”.

My shirt is once again pulled up, and I'm staring into the mirror, remembering the events of the night I lost everything. My mother and grandmother's words echoing inside my head.

“I can't help Renee... Shannon's pregnant with my pup... I can't come close to her anymore... I belong to someone else now... I'm sorry... I hope she can forgive me one day...”.

I take in a deep breath closing my eyes.

“You're a royal ass hole...” I whisper shaking my head.

“Alex?”.

I open my eyes and see the figure behind me through the mirror.

“What are you doing?”.

I turn and quickly let my shirt down.

“Nothing”.

Zuleha looks at me skeptically.

“Okay... you ready?”.

“Ermm yeah. Lemme just...”.

My phone interrupts my sentence.

“You get that. I'll wait for you downstairs”.

I nod and watch her exit. I pick up my phone and it's a private number. I furrow my brows before answering.

“Hello?”.

“Poppy cut it out!”.

“Hello?” I ask again. “Ruth-Alma?”.

“Alexis! Oh thank goodness! I need your help... you have no idea...”.

“Woah, woah, woah, slow down” I tell her. “One at a time okay?”.

“Mmhm...”.

“Now...”.

“I need your help!” she goes again.

I laugh and push my soles into my shoes.

“What's up?”.

“We can't possibly talk about this on the phone”.

“Then why did you call me?”.

“Well...”.

“...because Rae misses you...”.

“Poppy!”.

“...and we need your help...”.

“Pop...”.

“...because we did something bad...!”.

“Wait what?” I go. “Details please. And is it true you miss me Ruthy?” I laugh in the last part.

I hear her groan.

“My name is... ugh! Forget it!”.

“Hey what about my help?”.

“I already told you we can't talk about it on the phone”.

“So...?”.

“Ugh fine! I'll come up with something as usual”.

She hangs up.

“Okay” I laugh.

Lowering my phone into my pocket, I walk out of my room to find Zuleha.
