"What's the status", I asked a nearby officer.

"Looks like all exits of the mall are blocked off by members of Cosen, they are armed as well of course."

"How many people inside?"

"A few hundred, it's the weekend. They planned to strike like this on purpose when it's most crowded."

I watched the cameras as the officer flipped through channels, they had everyone in the mall sitting on the floor as armed members walked around.

It was only a few days later after Masen's birthday when this all happened. We were expecting Cosen to make a move but nothing like this. It just doesn't make sense. I thought for sure every move they made from when they struck at headquarters up until now would be because of me. So far, we are still in the dark as to their motive for this holdup.

"You really don't think it's just one large robbery or something", Josh said.

"They have many ways to get money, something like this would be amateur for them. I'm thinking, this has to be some type of message. This is definitely one good way to get the public's attention."

"Officer Hanson, I'm getting an alert from our facial recognition on this guy, his name is coming up as Quinn", one of our neighboring officers said.

I leaned forward to get a better look as the officer zoomed in.

"Shit!"

"You said that right", Josh said.

"I apologize as I don't know much about him, is he a big problem", the officer asked.

"He won't hesitate to kill and I bet he's in charge of this whole orchestra. These people are in more danger than we thought."

"Well, if we go through the basic negotiation strategies—"

"Negotiating him is useless", I said, cutting the officer off. "He's nowhere near normal."

"How are we going to approach this knowing Quinn is most likely in charge", Miles said.

I let out a sigh as I backed away from the screen.

"I hate to say this, I really do but...I'm afraid this won't end without losing some people", I said.

"Come on Tyler, you shouldn't say that", Josh said.

I looked at him.

"I wouldn't say it if I knew it wasn't going to happen. I have no idea why Quinn is doing this. There are more people than officers, we won't be able to protect everyone and I know for a fact there isn't anything we can offer Quinn that he wants."
