- I AM, NUMBER ONE FOR THE HUNTLOW TAG RIGHT NOW, AND I JUST WANTED TO THANK ALL OF MY READERS, IT MEANS SO MUCH TO ME! :))

SO WITHOUT FURTHER ADUE, HAPPY READING -

I stood in front of one of the windows in the cafeteria. Miso pawed at my ankle harmlessly and I picked her up, placing her on my shoulder. She balanced calmly, nuzzling against the bare skin of my neck.

Flapjack flew down from titan knows where, and nestled on top of my head, in his usual spot.

Miso mewed at him, and he chirped back at her.

I wondered what they were saying.

Willow walked up behind me and smiled brightly, Clover hovering beside her. "You look like some sort of animal whisperer right now." She commented.

"I don't know what that means." I replied, scratching Miso on the fluffy spot behind her ear. She purred affectionately. I remembered when Miso purred by me for the first time. It scared me so badly. I thought she was going to explode.

Tears were shed, braincells were lost.

We don't talk about that anymore.

"It means you're good with animals. Like you can speak to them." Willow explained. She reached over and attempted to pet Miso as well.

Miso let out a low hiss and tensed up, digging her claws into my shoulder.

I scolded her, taking her down and frowning, hoping she would get the message that hissing and scratching at people was considered rude.

Willow retracted her hand back. Miso still didn't like most people. I don't know why I was the acceptation but she needed to be trained.

I placed Miso on the windowsill and pet her gently. I reached out for Willow's hand, and brought it to Miso, slowly using Willow's hand to pet her.

Miso tolerated this fine, and when I took my hand back so it was just Willow petting her, Miso tolerated that too.

When Willow finished petting Miso, she took my hand. "So. When we beat the collector, are you gonna go back to the human realm..?"

"I.. I don't know. I hadn't really thought of it. But.. I think so. That's where almost everything good I've experienced in my life is. The only good thing I have here is, well... you guys."

She thought for a moment. "Yeah, I know the demon realm probably holds a lot of.. unpleasant memories for you. I don't blame you for wanting to go back to the human realm."

Flapjack chirped, and Willow and I laughed weakly.

I didn't know what I was going to do. As long as I could be around my friends.

Skara rounded all of us up by the entrance of the school, quietly so Bocsha wouldn't know.

"Okay folks, this is where we're meeting up at midnight tonight, don't tell ANYONE else. If Bocsha finds out we won't be able to leave." Viney explained.

Skara got out her scroll again and typed something up. "I just forwarded the battle plans to everyone with a scroll, so.." she pointed at Luz. "You are the only one without a plan, I trust you can memorize it though? You're pretty smart for a human."

"That seems a little backhanded but thank you." Luz replied.

Viney cleared her throat and started talking again, as Skara gave Luz a thumbs up. "Alrighty, get some rest while you can people, you know when to meet here."

And with that, everyone dispersed and walked back to the rooms.

I walked back alone, because Willow went to the plant homeroom to talk to Viney about something.

I walked silently down the dark hallway, Flapjack and Miso both asleep on the top of my head.

A shadow appeared around the corner, a taller silhouette, but not taller than me.

As the silhouette came into the dim light of the hallway, I noticed it was Bocsha. I stopped walking and furrowed my brow at her.

"Hunter, was it? I remember you from when the coven head visited our school. I didn't think you would show up again though."

She had her arms crossed, with a dangerous glare on her face.

"Sure. What do you want?" I spat back. If she kept talking she was going to wake up Flapjack and Miso. That was the last thing I wanted.

"Well you sure get straight to the point, don't you." She said, looking at her nails boorishly. "I want you to join my team. You used to be the golden guard. You are older, have experience. You'd be quite the valuable asset here."

I was taken back by her offer, probably visibly, because she rolled her eyes and didn't give me a chance to reply before she spoke again.

"Do you really plan to waste your impressive talents on half-a-witches team? Are you and her together or something??"

"Yes. Actually. She's my girlfriend. And definitely not, half-a-witch. Do I have to explain this to you, again?"

"Ew, okay, whatever. Just-" She threw her arms out in front of herself in frustration and shook her head at me. "Hunter. I can see you're not in your right mind at the moment. I need you on my team. Get it?"

She walked up right next to me, and placed a hand on my shoulder. "Think about it."

And with that, she walked off, leaving me alone in the quiet, dimly lit hallway.

I didn't know why she wanted me on her "team" so badly but I didn't like it. I walked back to my room silently and closed the door behind me carefully.

When I was in with the door closed, I let out a heavy sigh. Did she have to remind me about my past as the golden guard. That was something I didn't like to think about. My life in the palace wasn't something to look back at fondly.

I sat down on the floor, on my musty sleeping bag, and set Flap and Miso down on the floor next to it carefully.

A few minutes later, there was a loud knock on the door.

Before I could even get up to answer the door, it burst open. Miki and Roka were standing there, looking like a bunch of Disney Channel villains.

"Well hello there, golden guard."

I gasped. It was Kikimora and the Blight's abomatron.
