- I spent all day today playing the Ratchelor instead of writing or doing school work, and I think you should too. Here's a link:

Happy reading! (or Ratchelor playing) -

"You do realize that the Caribbean isn't even in Connecticut right? Or the U.S. You would be in a whole different country and you wouldn't be able to come back until everyone else does." Camila had been going on and on for almost five minutes after I brought up Jackson's offer to her.

I guessed she didn't like the idea.

"I've traveled between realms..?" I sort of argued back. I didn't know why I was so determined. This was stupid.

"Yeah! By stepping through the portal in our backyard! It's not that easy here! You have to get on a plane, or a boat and sit there and wait to get back home, all by yourself!"

"I wouldn't be all by myself!"

She let out a long sigh and leaned against the counter. "Okay. We still have a little while until winter break but if I do let you go we'll have to tell his parents in advance... Que pasa si te pasa algo mientras no estas? Como te ayudare?"

(What if something happens to you while you're gone? How will I help you?)

"I promise I'll be alright." I couldn't actually promise but I was pretty confident I was okay.

"We can talk about this later." She said, looking at her watch. "Don't you have somewhere to be right now?"

I leaned to the side and glanced at the red clock on the microwave. "Oh! Uh, yeah! Thanks for reminding me!"  I grabbed my coat and ran out the door because speaking of being able to just walk through the portal, I walked right through. I was gonna wait there and Willow and I were going to come back through to hang out here in the human realm.

I waited very patiently. I was excited to see the new haircut she talked about over the phone. She had refused to send me any pictures of it, so I assumed it was pretty noticeable.

Just as I leaned back against a wall, I was ambushed by Willow. I went into total "attack mode" Luz says, only to find Willow's smiling face in front of me.

She gave me a big hug, and I hugged her back tightly. A moment later she stepped back and spun around.

Her hair was so short. I was pretty sure she had the same amount of hair as me. It flowed down her face and poofed a bit on the back of her neck. I had to blink a few times before I snapped out of it.

She was so beautiful.

"So? What do you think?" She asked.

"I think it's gorgeous." I replied. She smiled her sweet, bright smile and jumped back into my arms, hugging me again.

"You really think so? I thought since I'm sixteen now I might go for a change. It's not too short is it?" She turned her head around a few times. I still thought it looked really really good.

"I think it's perfect."

She laughed. "Me too."

We got to Camila's house and Vee let Willow borrow one of her coats. Willow didn't have any good winter coats, and we were going to be hanging around outside more.

Then we said goodbye and walked out.

"So, how's school going?" Willow asked. She had her hands in her pockets, and smiled as her breath crystallized in front of her.

I didn't have a lot to say about school. I had thought about it today already, and how it wasn't super exciting but was interesting enough. "It's fine. I feel like it would be cooler to learn more wild magic, but Luz and Vee help me with that sometimes."

"So you're learning human things and wild magic? You really are a jack of all trades."

"What does that mean?" I asked.

"It's someone who does all different types of things. Luz told me you're an overachiever too."

"She did?"

"Mhm."

She reached over and took my hand in hers. It was very warm.

We walked for a little while until we got to a road that was lined with stores on each side of it. There was the cat cafe I adopted Miso from, a few coffee shops, and a handful of different stores and shops up and down the sidewalks.

I myself didn't find it too exciting but Willow really loved it, so that in itself was great.

She pointed at different things that she hadn't noticed before or she thought looked prettier in the snow and would talk about them. She was so passionate about everything, listening to her talk was one of my favorite things.

Finally, she was smitten on a small coffee shop that was wedged between an art store and a place that sold lamps.

We walked in and Jackson popped up from seemingly out of nowhere. "Hunter! I didn't expect to see you here!" He said. Titan, I nearly kicked him in the face, how was he able to just teleport like that? It was genuinely scary.

He noticed Willow, and gave her a nod. "He talks about you a lot. Like a lot."

She mumbled something in response, something I couldn't quite hear. It sounded like something along the lines of, "Oh, gee." Her face turned a light pink too. An almost un-noticeable shade.

"So, what did you guys think about my offer? We still got a while so no pressure, just asking." Jackson asked.

What he didn't know was that I didn't bring it up to Willow because I knew she would be one hundred percent on board with traveling the human realm, but most of the adults in our lives would probably be a firm no. It looked like Camila was already leaning in that direction.

Willow tipped her head to the side curiously. "What offer?"

"Y'know. About taking you guys to my parents vacation home in the Caribbean for winter break. Again, no rush."

She turned to me slowly, and she almost seemed to be glowing with excitement. "What's the Caribbean??" She asked me.

Jackson looked between the two of us, concerned. "Did neither of you know where that is?" He scratched his head and smiled awkwardly.

Willow and I shook our heads.

"Okay.... Well, it doesn't matter. Hunter, if you could explain everything to her that would be great and just let me know. I have to go right now though."

"Where?" I asked.

He spun his head around a few times as if he was looking for someone. "Uhh.. I'm here with myyy......... girlfriend.. Yeah. Why would I be here alone? Anyway she's probably waiting, I'll see you at school tomorrow!"

We sat in silence as soon as he left.

"We both know he doesn't have a girlfriend right?" Willow muttered.

"Yeah he definitely doesn't." I agreed.

- I'm sorry I kinda forgot Miso existed for a hot sec. -
