The brain that disagrees with the heart

I have a love hate relationship with tears

At times they soothe my soul while contrary to that

they bleed me dry of my energy

I think today would be an example

only the tears are unshed and my body quakes with exhaustion

with the want of their freedom

but it does not come

something inside me locks it in tight and switches off the lights

it's a small voice that tells me

you don't have time for tears
