The Goodbye I Never Wanted

Losing a friend is a different kind of hurt

Especially when they were your lifeline in hard times.

When they were like family to you

When the reason you aren't talking is because they hurt you and you finally let go instead of chasing after them for so long

When the person who swept them away was your brother

But you knew it from the beginning

You knew deep in your bones even when she promised not to that she would disappear into his arms

The heartache of the words they sent you dug into your skin and burned so deep into your flesh

You felt like you were on fire
