If I could wash away all the pain in your eyes I would.
My insides twist and crumble at the single tear that drops from the corner of your eye.
Your eyes are glossy, your expression hard but I see in it familiarity.
Agony, hurt that doesn't have enough words to describe it.
I hold your hand and rub at the soft skin of your wrist and pray that you realize someone is there for you.
You seem so alone but you're not.
I'm here and my heart hurts so much for you I feel my words choke in my throat when you finally speak.
When we have parked the car I pull you into my arms.
I expect a fight but you sink into me.
I hold you tight and brush my fingers through your hair.
It's okay I silently say and I can tell it's hard for you to believe but I'm not leaving.
I'm here holding you until the pain dulls and your eyes dry
