EP8 - Vocal Performance and Concert (2)

In life, there are several crucial crossroads. Moments that can change your life. And right now, I'm standing at one of those crossroads.

I feel short of breath due to nerves.

My hands are shaking.

With trembling hands, I carefully tear open the envelope containing my grades.

First, the written exams. Those aren't important. 30 points, 54 points, 42 points. I quickly flip past the dismal scores, focusing on one thing.

The major exam.

The most important part of the major exam is the practical test, which includes submitting and performing your own composition. The events and performance practice classes come next.

Out of a total of 72 points, the practical test accounts for a whopping 56 points. Events are worth 8 points, and the remaining 8 points are for music theory, vocal performance, ear training, music history, and performance practice.

I didn't really study for the exam, but I'm confident in music theory and music history. It's something I've been studying continuously, even in my past life.

Well, even if the scores aren't great, it doesn't matter much. The scholarship I'm aiming for, the Outstanding Student Scholarship, is awarded to the student with the highest score in the practical test for each major.

In other words, as long as I do well in my composition and the event, I'll be fine. I check the last part of the grade report, the section for specialized courses (music).

[Music Theory 2]

[Vocal Performance, Ear Training 1]

[Music History 2]

[Performance Practice 2]

Alright, so far so good.

Except for Vocal Performance and Ear Training, everything is a perfect score.

Next is the second most important score, the "Event."

[Event 8]

I clench my fist tightly. Yes, yes. Alright, the event is done. A perfect score! Ah, it feels rewarding to see my hard work pay off. Now, only one score remains.

"Phew, phew."

Taking a deep breath, I check the final score.

[Music Major Practical Test 56]

"Damn it, yes!"

I swear without even realizing it. The surrounding stares are sharp. Taeyoung looks at me as if I'm crazy. But I ignore all those gazes.

Do your opinions matter right now? Huh?

I'm getting a scholarship!

The music major practical test is not an absolute evaluation but a relative one. So, perfect scores are not common. Even when the most scores are given, maybe 2 people? It could even be none.

I got a perfect score on that test. Well, maybe Han Goyo could get the same score, but he's a vocal major. I'm a composition major, so it's okay.

"Oh, I'm really relieved."

I mutter and lean back against the desk. I feel like all the tension has drained from my body. Scholarships like this come with the tuition bill during vacation.

Even though it's not a full scholarship but a half scholarship, who cares? Plus, if you receive the Outstanding Student Scholarship twice or more, you can get the Success Student Scholarship, which exempts you from the entire tuition.
