JANUARY

Serena sat up from her chair as the door closed, and Fernando left.

Pissing off the face of baseball was definitely not on her life's bingo card.

She felt bad for him in many ways.

But it was obvious Fernando had lost his way here. She didn't quite understand how he got comfortable so fast. After three regular sessions he was calling her complaining about Xander Bogaerts, his new teammate. That's not what she was for.

If he needed a therapist, or a friend, she wasn't the right thing for him.

He needs to get back on the team, and even though she did have some authority in certain cases to exchange information with the GM, she didn't want to.

He needed to pull it together sooner or later because no matter how many big-name players AJ buys, there's never gonna be another Fernando Tatis Jr.

This team needed him as much as he needed this team.

Serena sighed, pulling her phone out of her pant pocket before typing out a message to Fernando.

TATIS FERNANDO

Hey. I hope you realize for our next session that I'm supposed to be fixing your mindset and assisting you to get back in good graces with the club, but I can't help you start if you don't want to get better.

The girl then looked up, catching a glimpse of herself in the reflection of the glass panes that made up part of her office.

Her lack of sleep made her eyes a little darker. She couldn't deny how extra hard she'd been working these past few weeks with Spring Training and having to add and reopen files on certain players.

Serena hadn't been able to make time for herself, causing her work days to seem longer, weekends to be spent either asleep or doing work from her sofa, and all-around letting go of herself and the people around her.

She hadn't talked to Mack. Not even Wil since he joined a new ball club...

Serena's tired eyes sailed across the screen of her cellphone as she scrolled through her messages, reaching Mack's contact.

The last time they talked was over two weeks ago. The blonde quickly reread her messages, realizing their lack of communication had been from the little scuffle they'd gotten into over Serena's own lack of commitment to see each other in the off-season.
