serena wasn't expecting working with russell to be such an eye-opening experience, but it was.
it was refreshing to have a pure conversation with someone. especially a child, since they oftentimes had trouble advocating for themselves.
something about it almost reminded her of san diego. the filterless discussions that occurred frequently with the players when they finally opened up was like the moment russell chose to as well.
working for the mets had made serena feel indifferent. obviously the girl was new. she'd been new in new york, and there was a delay of reliance. not everyone was comfortable having someone dig through your brain and know everything about you - which was understandable, but if they wanted to get better they needed to cooperate.
the stubbornness ascending from the met's roster exhausted serena. it made serena second-guess her mission, and even reconsider her career choice altogether when she was really upset.
serena's deep thoughts about why she started all this always brought her full circle back to liam. the idea of him made her feel extremely disoriented, especially since her time in san diego made her feel very healed and at peace with herself about the traumatic things they experienced.
when the girl first got into the psychology field, she always wanted to work with children. she wanted to help kids like herself, but ended up going the athlete route.
the current turmoil pushed serena to strike again, not just rethink her career choice. it genuinely made her want to quit or go somewhere else.
in elaboration to "go somewhere else", the girl didn't even want to go to a different organization. she genuinely was considering on quitting sports psychology and leaving these freaky athletes in the dust altogether.
the worst part of all this was that serena could only wonder about what would happen if she followed her desired path.
her circumstances were unideal, but self-imposed. the girl barely even got to new york and didn't have nearly enough money to quit yet another job and start her own office. and even if she did, she wouldn't even know where she'd start her office at. it surely wouldn't be new york, though.
once again, serena lense was lost in the heat of it all... looking every which way, only to find absolutely nothing but her stoic face that had the fight taken out of it after all these months.
