"i think you should definitely talk to him, if you feel like it's the right thing to do. i know fernando very well, and i know it'd be a really important gesture for him." serena offered her words, as she sat eye to eye with their team's newest addition, struggling to not get distracted by the birds and shadows outside the window.

x nodded his head, a small smile creeping onto his face as he got what crone and kim described as the "best opinion" on not only team stuff, but almost everything.

"i'm happy you came to me, and i apologize for my exhaustion... i just got back in town. it was very nice meeting you!"

"it was nice meeting you as well. i do hope i see you again, just not under any bad circumstances!" xander bogaerts laughed, getting up from the couch as serena got up from her chair, leading him to the door.

"goodbye!" she smiled as he walked out, closing the door as soon as he was out of sight.

serena looked at the clock. it was only 11 AM, and baseball still hadn't even started. it was close though, given most of the players were arriving back in town after being dismissed from spring training.

life had felt so slow lately. days felt like weeks. every action felt like it should've been done in a day's work.

she couldn't stop thinking about the events of the last few weeks. she vaguely remembered miami being so beautiful, and appreciably enjoying it.

after her and macK split though, it was all a blur. the only thing she could think about was macK.

san diego hadn't felt quieter since they called it quits with... whatever they had. serena felt so distracted and withdrawn. every little noise or movement called to her. the work she was supposed to get done always got put on pause by the refrigerator running or a ray of sunshine seeping through the thin glass pane of her office.

she could stare at these hindrances for hours, but not without her mind wandering toward everything that's happened.

finally, her eyes dropped from the wall-mounted clock and fell to her little chair across from the client couch.

serena yawned, grabbing her phone from out of her pocket and flopping on the couch. it felt more comfortable than ever.

perhaps, a small nap wouldn't hurt...
