The month passed quickly and soon enough it there was only a week till the Yule Ball and Harry had yet to ask Kai to be his date. They were all in study hall in the great hall.
" I can't believe I don't have a date yet. At this rate I'll be the only bloke in school without a date. Well me and Neville." Ron said.
" Yeah well then again he can take himself." Harry joked.

" It might interest you to know that Neville's already got someone." Hermione told them.
" Ugh now I'm really depressed." Ron sighed.
" Don't be, Harry doesn't have a date either." Kai told him.
" I-wha-I don't?" Harry asked.
" Unless you asked someone, that I'm not aware of. Cause I know you didn't ask me." Kai said nonchalantly.

" Oh-I'm sorry I though that we were going together cause-" Harry started.
" Cause I'm you're girlfriend? You think that just because we're already dating means you shouldn't still do romantic things for me?" Kai asked.
" No, I didn't mean it like that." Harry told her.
" I know, but until you ask me properly neither of us have dates." Kai told him.

" Hey, Kai. I'll take you." Fred whispered from down the table.
Kai looked at Fred then back at Harry and shrugged.
" Kai-" Harry started.
" Hey Hermione you're a girl." Ron said.
" Very well observed Ronald." Hermione scoffed.

Immediately the lovers quarrel between and Kai and Harry was put on pause to try and stop Ron from what he was about to say.
" Come with me. I mean it's one thing for a bloke to show up alone. For a girl it's just sad." Ron said.
" I'll have you know that I won't be going alone because believe it or not someone's asked me and I said yes." Hermione told them before standing up.

Kai followed suit. They turned in their books and left the Great Hall.
" I can't believe he assumed that I didn't have a date this close to the ball." Hermione said.
" I can't believe Harry thought he didn't have to ask me to the ball. What is it with them?" Kai asked.
" They're stupid boys that's what it is. They don't a have functional brain." Hermione said.

" Is it wrong that I feel like this? Usually I wouldn't care. But I want him to care-I never care if anybody else cares." Kai stressed.
" It's not wrong to feel that way Kai. It's completely understandable." Hermione told her.
" This relationship stuff is so complicated and messy." Kai groaned.
" Yeah, but you still want to be with him regardless. Guess that let's you know you really love him." Hermione shrugged.

Kai froze at the L word. Love? Did she love Harry? She didn't know-is that what feeling was when she was around him? I mean she loved Nat and Clint. Of course she loved Laura and the kids. But that was family love. How was she suppose to know what romantic love felt like? She liked Harry romantically-but did she love Harry?

Great just another thing she'll have to figure out.

Harry lead Kai out of the school towards the quidditch pitch.
" Harry what are we doing?" Kai asked.
" Something I should have done a while ago." Harry told her.
" If this about the Yule Ball, I'm really over it." Kai told him.
" Just wait please." He said.

Kai sighed and gave in. Harry stopped her and ran over to his broom and grabbed something Kai couldn't see. Suddenly a flame appeared and Kai realized he was holding a road flare. He took off into the sky and started looping around and spelling something out with the smoke from the flare.

As predicted, it spelled out will you go to the ball with me? Kai couldn't help but let a small smile creep onto her lips.
" So will you?" Harry called.
" Yes, you dork!" Kai called back.
Harry smiled and flew back down to her. Instead of landing he picked her up and tossed her on the back of the broom.

" Hold on love." He told her before taking off again.
Kai wrapped her arms around him as the ascended back up into the sky. She looked around and saw the full moon reflected off the snow on the ground. It lit up the entire castle.
" Harry this is beautiful it's just like-" Kai started.
" Riding Buckbeak last year." Harry finished.
" Yeah just like that." Kai placed her chin on his shoulder.

They flew for another minute before landing in the Astronomy Tower. Inside was a blanket and a picnic basket.
" Harry-how did you pull all this off in a day?" Kai asked as they got off the broom.
" Hermione." Harry told her honestly.
" Hm figures." Kai chuckled.
Harry lead her to the picnic and they sat down.

" But hey all the ideas were mine. It was just getting it all set up." Harry said.
" Oh yeah of course." Kai nodded.
" I'm being serious." Harry told her.
" You can't be Sirius-that's my uncle." Kai told him.
" I think now is the best time to tell you I'm only with you for you're looks." Harry teased.

Kai laughed and opened the picnic basket.
" Chocolate chip cookies huh?" Kai asked.
" You told me there you're favorite. And you're only weakness." Harry said pulling them out.
" Maybe not anymore." Kai whispered.
" Hm what was that love?" Harry asked looking up at her.
" Nothing. This is great Harry, thank you." Kai told him.

" Kai I just wanted to tell you that I didn't mean to make you feel like I didn't care about you. I'm-I'm kinda really bad at this whole relationship stuff. I'm sorry that I just assumed that you and I would be goin to the Yule Ball together just because we're dating." Harry apologized.
" It's okay, really. I'm not good at this whole relationship thing either. But we're both learning, it's okay to make mistakes." Kai told him.

" I promise you, I will try my hardest very day to make you feel happy to be with me. I'm still on my life's mission remember?" Harry said.
" Thank you Harry. And I will do the same." Kai reached out and grabbed his hand.
Harry brought there linked hands up and kissed hers.

" Shall we dig in?" Harry asked.
" Oo yes please." Kai said excitedly.
