There Kai stood, next to Harry and Dumbledore in the same cave her father had died in. Here was Kai at 17, and Regulus died when he was 19. It all felt very personal. Dumbledore lit his wand and threw a ball of light across the cave to where the locket was.
"There it is, the question is how do we get there?" Dumbledore said walking next to the water.
Dumbledore reached out his hand and the water started bubbling and Kai looked at Harry who was fixated on the water. A chain flew up into Dumbledore's hand.
"Miss Romanoff if you would." Dumbledore asked.
Kai looked away from Harry and gave him a nod. She took the chain from him and started pulling until a small boat surfaced.

One by one the three loaded the boat and it took them to the other side of the cave. Kai couldn't help but look down into the dull dark water. Her father, the persons diary she had been reading for two years was laying somewhere underneath her. Kai was never one to get spooked easily or at all for that matter, but right now all the hairs on her body stood up in alert and her heart beat slowly, just waiting for whatever was going to jump out at her.

They reached another little island of crystals and unloaded the boat. In the middle stood a shell with black water and another smaller shell next to it.
"Do you think the horcrux is here?" Harry asked.
"Oh yes." Dumbledore nodded as he examined the shell.
Kai also tried finding a way to get the horcrux when she remembered something Krecher had told her.
"Someone is going to have to drink it. All of it." Kai told them.
"I fear you are right Miss Romanoff. You remember our conditions? This potion might paralyze me, make me forget why we're here, it might cause me so much pain I beg for relief, you must not indulge these requests, even if you have to force it down my throat." Dumbledore told them.

"Sir why can't I drink it?" Harry asked.
"Because I am much older, much cleverer and much less valuable. You're in good health Harry, and Miss Romanoff I hope you will keep this process going, you've always understood the seriousness of these things I doubt this time will be different." Dumbledore told them before scooping some water in the shell.
That's why she was here, to make sure that he drank all of it and he knew Harry would get soft on him. After the first drink Dumbledore was already gasping for air and sitting on the ground. But they had to kept going, so while Harry rushed to his side Kai scooped another drink and brought it to them and Dumbledore drank it. They did this over and over lots of time Kai having to forcefully pour it down his throat, she ignored his pleads and Harry's tearful eyes.

Finally she poured the last drink down his throat. Dumbledore sighed and blinked.
"Harry. Water." Dumbledore told him.
Harry nodded and ran to the shell and tried to get water.
"Water." Dumbledore repeated.
Kai watched his eyes shift to the actual water so she went down closer to it, the tip of her leather boot getting wet she was so close. She squatted down and tried looking into the foggy water. She couldn't see anything but a feeling inside her chest kept her there, it wasn't fear. If it was she would have just moved, but she couldn't she need to be right there.

Suddenly a gray boney hand and arm reached out of the water and grabbed her ankle. Kai let out a screech as it pulled her into the water. The side of her face scraped the crystals on the way down slicing a cut down it. Kai was now being pulled down by several grey bodies. She pulled out her dagger and started slashing at them and kicking them. Which work because they all sunk back down and just as Kai was about to swim up to the surface one came straight towards her and wrapped her in almost a hug. Kai struggled to get it off. She kicked and silently screamed. She was able to get her arm out and stab the grey body in the side. The grey body screeched and looked up at Kai for a second before swimming off. This time Kai made it to the surface and saw fire all around them.

"Kai!" Harry shouted.
Kai saw Harry and Dumbledore on the island and swam to them. Harry reached out his hand for her and she accepted.
"We must leave now." Dumbledore told them as Kai fully joined them.
The pain from her face and the lightheaded feeling made Kai just nod and lean into Harry, as she silently pleaded to just go home.
