Your POV
I followed Jason back to the table once he had bandaged up my foot.
I returned to the white chair next to him.
He sighed as he sat down too.

"We can't stay here." Jason shook his head.

"We can't leave either," Josh rolled his eyes. "The house is full of evidence, by the time we get back, it'll be fully trashed."

"We'll get rid of the evidence whilst we're gone."

"Where would we even go?"

Jason threw his head back. "Lockhart, a city in New York, is the best place I can keep everyone safe." He said with gravel in his voice.

I shook my head, interrupting them. "You can keep us safe here. Please Jason, I don't want to go to New York. Its further away from my old life." I begged.

He looked at me, his eyes full of anger.
"For God's sake, Y/n. This is about keeping you and everyone here safe, not about where is closer to your dead parents." He snapped.

I hated it when he was frustrated, because he always seemed to take it out on me.

I assumed his bipolar medication hadn't kicked in yet.

I fought the urge to cry, I wanted my parents with me right now, but in a way, I felt they were.

"Bro, can I speak to you for a second?" Kaine asked, standing up and pulling down his black shirt.

Jason shook his head.
"No we've got things to do-"

"Can I speak to you for a second" Kaine repeated, more firmly, more like an order than a question as impatience flickered in his dark eyes.

Jason sighed and ran his hands through his golden hair.

"Fine." He muttered, and the two of them wandered off into the living room.

"Are you okay, Y/n?" Jake asked.

"I'm fine."

Jason's POV
I followed Kaine into the living room where he sat on the edge of my white couch.
"What the hell is wrong with you, Jason?" He asked, his dark brown eyes glaring at me, but I was not half intimidated.

I sighed. "What do you mean."

"That girl in there. The one you love, she is trying her best to face reality, to accept the fact that Jason McCann has kidnapped her. She is trying her best to fit in, to help out. Hell, she is trying her best to even like you, Jason. And I can tell she does. But if you want her to fall in love with you, you can't bring up the death of her parents and speak to her like she's a piece of shit." He snapped.

I felt anger boil up inside me. "I don't speak to her like she's a piece of shit." I said through gritted teeth.

Kaine rolled his eyes and let out a sarcastic laugh. "Everyone in there just witnessed it. I wouldn't be surprised if we went back in there and she was in tears. Jason you know how close she was to her parents. Do you even understand how hard this is for her? When we kidnapped Alara, I was there for her and I gave her everything. I earned her trust."

I glared at him. "I don't want Y/n to love me because I buy her nice things. And I am there for her, I gave her two and a half pints of my own blood for gods sake. What else can she want?" I snapped.

Kaine rolled his eyes again. "She wants you to be there for her emotionally. She's grieving and you're expecting her to move on like that. You did this to her Jason, you're the reason she's grieving. The least you can do for her is be more comforting."

My blood ran cold, in a way, I could see where he was coming from. But the process was so slow.

I wanted Y/n to love me now.

I sighed. "So what can I do to make up what just happened."

Kaine sucked his teeth and shrugged. "I'm not gonna be the manager of your relationship bro. If you fuck it up then its not my problem. I've told you what you're doing wrong. Be a man and figure out how to make it right." He said, pushing past me but I blocked the doorway.

"Man, help me out." I said, reducing all the anger from my voice.

Kaine sighed. "First of all you need to apologise, for God's sake. Then maybe care what she has to say. Care about the fact that she doesn't want to go to Lockhart, weather she knows anything about it or not. And just generally let her know that you're there for her. Alara told me that she likes you. Don't take that for granted Jason. If you push her away before you've even gotten close, you won't be able to fix it." He said.

I sighed and nodded. "Okay." I muttered, walking out the door.

Kaine followed behind me as we returned to the group, Y/n's head was laid on the table, her hair was spilled out across the papers that we were working on and she twiddled with a pen in her hand.

Her bright eyes had turned glossy and dull and her perfectly groomed eyebrows were knitted together in a frown.

I walked over and took the pen out of her hand, she looked up at me.

"I'm sorry." I said.

She clenched her jaw. "For what?"

I swallowed as all my gang members watched closely.

"For everything"
