Your POV

One of the masked men lead me outside and guided me toward a cluster of towering evergreens and we ducked beneath them.
As soon as we were hidden from the swarms of security, the man yanked off his mask and threw it to the damp ground.

Jason.

"I found you." He whispered, bringing his hand up to touch my face.
Jason's hand slid down my jawline and through my hair.
When his fingers reached the base of my neck, he pressed gently, urging me into his arms. "Talk to me, y/n."
I let my forehead drop against his chest and choked back a sob, Jason inhaled deeply.
"Just tell me if you're okay." He pleaded.

"I'm okay now." I croaked, the words barely coming out.

Jason lifted my chin and I could make out the faint outline of his face.
His strong features and long, thick eyelashes, his boyish good looks hidden underneath the shadow of the evergreens.
His lips grazed mine.
My breath caught and he pulled me onto my toes. Deepening the kiss.

I felt everything at once-
the happiness of seeing him again and the shame for allowing myself to feel it.
The pain of missing him and the fear of loosing him.

He leant his forehead against mine.
"God, I missed you so bad."

"I missed you too." I squeezed my eyes shut, nuzzling my face further into Jason's chest.
"How did you find me?" I asked.

"We hired someone." He replied simply.

"How long did it take?"

"Around two hours." Jason wrapped his arms around me, tucking my head under his chin. "But we only hired him the other day, the rest of the time we spent thinking of a plan, and moping." He sounded apologetic.

I waited for a moment before speaking again.
"I think you should come back for me when you've finished your mission." I choked out.

Jason pulled away, holding my shoulders firmly and staring into my eyes. "What?"

"Leave me here," I stiffened. "Just until you finish your mission. That way, I won't get in the way of things."
The mission that Jason was yet to complete seemed pretty serious.

"Are you crazy?" Jason shook his head, "I'm not leaving you. Don't ask me to, because I won't. Not again."

"You're gonna get hurt," I staggered back, creating distance between us. "I'm just a distraction. Finish your mission and come back for me."

Panic flickered in Jason's eyes and he dropped them to the ground, visibly stiffening. "There's something I need to tell you, but I don't know how."

"You can tell me anything." I reassured.

Jason remained silent for a few minutes, piecing up the words inside his head to create an explanation, until he shook his head.
".You know what, it doesn't matter."

I reached for his arm. "Tell me."

"I need you with me," he said, dodging the real answer, he moved forward and pressed his chest against mine. "Please don't make me leave."

"You're too distracted when I'm around, Jason. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if something happened to you because of me-"

"Something already did happen." Jason lifted his shirt without waiting for me to answer. Black and blue bruises covered his abdomen, a result of a nasty fight.

"Jason!" I ran my fingertips gently over the blemishes, his muscles tensed beneath my touch. "What the hell did you do?"

He pulled his shirt down and shook his head. "I'm okay."

"Then why is your stomach covered in bruises?"

"I got in a fight with some people outside a pub, I was too lost in thought and they got the upper hand. It could've been worse." He shrugged as if it was no big deal.

"What were you thinking about?" I asked.
He turned away, I grabbed his sleeve and forced him to look at me.
"Jason, what were you thinking about?"

For a moment, he didn't respond.
"You." He said finally said softly.
His eyes moved up my neck slowly until they found mine and my heartbeat sounded so loud that I was sure he could hear it too.
Jason ran his finger down the side of my face, lingering at my jawline to tuck a strand of hair being my ear.
"I can't explain it. But I need you with me, when you're not, I can't stop thinking about you. I keep imagining what would happen if you got into the wrong hands." He said softly.

All I could think about was the way his touch made me dizzy.
"That's crazy." I said.

Jason shook his head. "Call it what you want, but it's not something I can just turn off." He pulled me further against him. "I'm safer with you than without you. And you're safer with me."

The familiar sound of sirens filled the air, and Jason's eyed flickered with panic. "Come with me, please." He said quickly.

I weighed my choices, but soon enough realised that he needed me as much as I needed him.
I nodded and let him lead me through the trees, away from the piercing noise that both of us knew too well.
